I find that sometimes if you swat a shot or two early you can get in everyone's head so they've got that in the back of their minds and they'll rush their shots around the hoop.

I've done the show and let go technique too, that works good on guys who drive really hard but can't throw it down at will because it'll throw off their layup. On someone looking to dunk on all comers, obviously that isn't going to work. Luckily I don't play with many NBA caliber athletes so the tactic can be pretty effective.

I play with college level athletes. They can't really dunk in traffic (But give them a fastbreak oppurtunity and they turn into Lebron ), but they have just enough hangtime that nothing really affects thier layups unless they just miss it (which will randomly happen now and again) or my team gets lucky and gets the 6'5 dude with body (You know, where you run into them and you know it's not a good idea to do it the next time? Totally different from the ones that are clearly perimeter players (Or think they are ).

Funny because I was really close to typing up a post about the palm skids earlier. I just couldn't figure out which one of you guys I wanted to reply to about it. I'm still trying to find the best way to fall on concrete. I'm thinking of developing a "Shaq-preemptive-roll" technique to allow my clothed body absorb the blow. As it stands now, my hands are often the first to hit and subsequently my palms are cut up for the majority of the summer, making for awkward hand shaking situations when I'm at work. Makes me feel like Andy Bernard in that episode of the Office when his hands blister up from overgolfing at the driving range right before his business golf outing.

I swear if I run into another dude that actually calls Offensive Foul or Charge in a Streetball game and actually try to make a case like it should be their ball, I may have to channel my inner 2004 Ron Artest on somebody.

Don't know what he meant about the NBA range thing. If a dude is giving me no space and daring me to drive (My handles are inconsistent), best believe I'm going to back up a take an NBA 3 pointer (My range extends to half court IE, I can keep the same form anywhere on the court).

I do agree with him about the dudes that play PG...only so they can turn into Allen Iverson/Russell Westbrook and never pick thier heads up off the floor.

I mean pulling up for NBA threes wen ur range doesn't extend out there. I kno guys who shoot them just b/c they see the line even though they cnt hit from the college line

I feel that. I played alongside a guy this summer who had an excellent shooting performance one night in late May. And that's all it took. From there on out, from May right on through September, I got the feeling that one hot night fueled his inner-being full of about 4 months of ultra-confidence that led him to jack from everywhere at all times, as long as it was from at least 21 feet away. It was a terribly unfortunate situation for everyone involved.

The dude that has anger problems and since you're dominating him he feels its neccesary to truck you when you're in mid air and you fall and dislocate your shoulder. Yeah, that happened to me a week ago.

I HATE playing with the coach on the floor who tries to tell you who to guard, to get back on D, hustle, cut, etc. I'm almost 30 years old, and my legs aren't the same as when I was younger...I'm gonna play at MY pace. And despite being a great defender, if they want me to guard a non-threat, I don't mind because I get a chance to rest.

Also, I hate playing with the "point guard" who dribbles all day, only to take a stupid shot...another reason why I don't always hustle on D.

On the topic of shooting - I hate the really good shooter who stops shooting just because he's gone "cold". Maybe he's missed 3 or 4 in a row,so all of a sudden, he's done shooting.

I've only played with a few guys like this, but as a shooter myself, it drives me crazy. Shooters have to keep shooting. I'm of the impression that good shooters with good form and a good eye, don't go cold. You may miss a few in a row, but if you're a good shooter, you're more likely to make the next one than miss it. Just my opinion. It was the way I was always raised and coached. I can miss 5 in a row, wide open, but I'm 100% sure that the 6th shot is going in.

Of course, I may fit a description of someone that you guys hate playing with. A guy that misses several shots, yet continues firing away. Just the mentality I have.

I'm sort of that way. I am a pretty good shooter, but if I am off, I won't shoot as much, but will try to do other things to help out, like rebounds, drives, things like that. Thankfully, I am pretty tall, so when the shot is not falling, I can do other things.

So, I thought this only happened in movies but. . .I recently played against the most foul smelling, B.O. emitting, tank-top wearing human I've ever seen (or smelled) in my life. And in truth, I'm cool with that. People aren't required to use deodorant or shower, especially when they're playing sports.

However, this guy had also mastered the blind side screen, and he set them more frequently than any other opponent has ever set screens in the history of screening. To make matters worse, I had teammates who were not keen on keeping me abreast of developing screen situations. But it wasn't entirely my teammates' fault. This guy was setting screens in the middle of the paint too, like when I was chasing down an opponent driving to the lane (think of it like a downfield block).

It was just the worst. Surprise funk attacks everywhere. And, it just so happens, I was trying to block this guy's jumper later this same night. And somehow, someway, my shot blocking hand landed directly in his armpit. I have never hit a player's armpit. And then the first time it happens, it's this guy. A normal shower, would not remove the smell from my hand. Most vile. Thing. Ever.
