This WITHOUT A DOUBT, my least favorite pickup basketball player/s.

The guys who think they the **** or something and half *** the game, and on offense just joke around with their teams sayin" oh should I shoot this deep three" or jack around like they don't care and like to ISO. Seriously if your just gonna be a d-bag dont even play

As it stands now, my hands are often the first to hit and subsequently my palms are cut up for the majority of the summer, making for awkward hand shaking situations when I'm at work. Makes me feel like Andy Bernard in that episode of the Office when his hands blister up from overgolfing at the driving range right before his business golf outing.

Oh I've been known to do that roll from time to time. If you get it right you practically bounce right back up

You could not smell the picks coming?

If you could smell him, it was already too late. You'd smell it with just enough time to acknowledge the inevitable.

What about the guy who is too nice? He compliments everybody on their shots and moves including his opponents. He always sais "Are you ok? Sorry, sorry," when he fouls someone.

                LOL. I'm that dude

I don't think it affects my play though. It only gets me more hype after seeing someone pull off a spectacular play. It forces me to bring my "A" game .

I'm borderline that guy but it depends on the vibe of the game. I'm out there because I love to play and compete but I'm not going to foul the hell out of a guy to prevent a bucket if it might risk injuring someone. If I accidentally catch someone with an elbow or something I'm going to see if they're alright and make it known that it was inadvertent.

I also have no issues with throwing out a "nice move" to an opponent if the guy's been cool and/or I've played with him before. I'm not a smack talker out there but I think I definitely play more focused once guys start talking smack.

I heard a story from Walt Frazier from his book Game within the game about how the Celtic players would sometimes act overtly friendly against them right before a game in an attempt to get their guard down. Then they'd go about their business laying the smackdown and then after the game they'd go back to being d-bags.

I'm this guy, to an extent. If I foul the hell out of someone, I'll help them up and apologize because while we are competing, it's just for fun, and no one needs to get hurt. Actually, I've never played with people who don't do this. I've been knocked down hard or taken out of mid-air before, and the guy who fouled me is always the first one to help me up.

I also tell people "nice move" or "nice shot" or something, but in a semi trash talking way. If a guy crosses me over or pulls off a nice move on me for a basket, running back down the court I'll usually say something like "hell of a move right there; it won't happen again, though."
I feel like saying something like that adds to the game because you KNOW they are going to want to come right back at you, so they'll be playing hard, and you know you won't want it to get pulled on you again, so you turn up your defense."

I'm the same way with defense. If a guy blocks my shot, I'll say "good D" or something, but in my head I know that next time I try that move, he'll be going for that same block, and I'll just shot fake him out of his shoes.

When people say things like "Good move" I always feel obligated to say "Thank you" in return, but it feels awkward. But then I also don't want them to think I'm some punk who can make a good move on them, receive a compliment and then ignore it.

I should have been more specific. There is nothing wrong with compliments our apologizing for hard fouls. Nobody goes out there wanting too hurt anybody and there are plenty of plays that get oohs and aahs.

I'm talking about the guy who is always complimenting and apologizing for almost any foul.

Never really seen anyone like that. I'll say something like "My bad, you straight?" if it was a particularly bad foul. Other than that...if you're on a scoring tear and you go in for a layup I might grab the wrist or something like that to prevent you from getting the bucket. Which is immediately followed with "Damn right I fouled you"

Re: The worst pick up players.

Speaking of apologizing, I hate when I clearly accidentally make contact with someone and I subsequently apologize, only to discover they're now super pissed off and don't accept. Most recently this occurred when my opponent was speeding out in the open floor for a fast break layup. As he approached the bucket, instead of rising to the goal, he came to a complete stop and pump faked. Since I was planning on a block attempt, I soared over him and clipped him with some legs and body. He didn't fall to the ground or anything, but he was scuffed by a lot of body parts.

I quickly apologized for his accidentally hitting his head with my legs, trying to clarify my intent, but he wasn't having any of it. Instead, he operated the rest of the night under the assumption that I was clearly trying to land a cheap shot and injure him on the play in which he stopped on a dime during a breakaway. I'd understand his anger if I made a dangerous play (trying to "innocently" grab him in the air, for instance) but it's a bummer when a friendly game becomes unfriendly because someone's assuming everyone's out to kill them.

I really don't like anyone that gets pissy, for any reason. Ruins the entire game. Everyone seems to start walking on eggshells around him and it changes how everyone plays. Especially if he's one of those guys that gets mad and starts just bulldozing his way through people to make a point. and God forbid you ever touch him.
