Re: NBA Off-season Movement & FA List (PG 1 Updated 6/28)

I don't think the pacers had a need for Leonard with granger and George already there. I think they'll start with Collison, Hill, and Granger as there 1, 2, and 3.

Then if they can sign David west, they have a starting lineup of:

    Collison
    Hill
    Granger
    West
    Hibbert

With George, Hansbrough, Price, and McRoberts coming off the bench.

    Not bad.

Rush and/or Jones will get a spot too. Hill/Price are way too small to be your main guards in the rotation.

I'm also guessing George starts not Hill.

Oh and Houston picked up the team option on Gragic.

I don't see Hill as a true PG now or in the future. He's an undersized 2. While that sounds pretty bad, he's a good talent and I think he can start as a combo-guard.

It was a good trade for both sides, IMO. San Antonio has a load of shooting guards and I think Pop started to realize that Hill wasn't going to be a true PG.

Interested to see what Mr Hill does in extended minutes/ more freedom on offense...

The guy can put the ball in the basket and defend, that ill keep him on the floor...I expect alot of people to be suprised with what he brings to the table...He is no full PG, he misses way too many easy passes....but hes not necessarily a bad distributor

Didnt want to see him go as a Spurs fan but well see how it works out...

Lately Pop is really going with the traditional backup PG anyway, the way he used Rog Mason and G Hill over the past couple years

They're still in win now mode, but it almost seems like Pops is trying to rebuild and win now all with one stone. I'm not so sure it makes sense because Hill is a Spurs type player though and through.

Pacers needed another steady player in the rotation because Rush and Jones aren't consistent enough. Problem is Hill and Price are now redundant, I'm guessing Price might be done in Indy though he played well at times for them.
I assume the Spurs see Corey Fisher as the backup PG in mind.

And apparently George Hill has like a 6'9" wingspan or something crazy for his height that allows him to even guard some SFs (from what I've read elsewhere), so I don't see anything wrong with him starting at the SG if his wingspan is really that long.

Wingspan or not, good luck having Collison and Hill as your starting guards. 5'11 and 6'2 respectively. If I was an Indy fan I would say hell no.

Much more logical to have George start and have Hill be the 6th man spark. He can certainly guard some 2 guards, but coming off the bench makes more sense.

I don't think Collison can get it done period anyway. I'm not too "up to date" on Hill, but based on what little I know of him, I'd probably move Collison to the pine behind him for the starting PG position.

Not a huge Collison fan at all. In NO he was fine, but last year he didn't live up to the hype in my eyes.

Ariza + okafor for ? Seems to be the package you'd want to send out for a 2 that also relieves the cap. Would probably need to throw in a protected future pick in that to get a reasonable return as well, which seems sketchy to do with the potential of cp ghosting out of there.

I don't know, most Spurs fans don't think Hill can ever be a true starting PG.

I don't see why he couldn't but from other boards and also a few here they're saying he's a combo guard.

Collison still needs to prove himself but I'm not sure what hype he had exactly. He pretty much played similar to how he did in NO's. He's probably not going to make an All-Star game and neither will Hill. There never should have been too much hype surrounding Collison, but I still think both of them are capable PG starters.

OKLAHOMA CITY -- The Oklahoma City Thunder have picked up the option year on the contracts of Serge Ibaka, James Harden, Eric Maynor, Byron Mullens and Cole Aldrich, keeping them all with the franchise for two more seasons.

I would be more concerned with a Collison/Hill backcourt than West as a FA. There's always a since of uneasiness when bringing in a guy coming off an injury, but West isn't injury prone, plus athletism isn't David's game.

Dang I wonder where West ends up and how it effects CP3.

Hornets currently don't have a single big man under contract, as Gray, Andersen, West have all opted out or signed elsewhere [Andersen went to Europe]. Carl Landry is an unrestricted free agent.

Hornets actually only have 5 players under contract: CP3, Ariza, Jack, Pondexter and Okafor. Crazy.

                                Laker news:

Also, the Lakers probably will announce this week they have hired assistant coaches John Kuester, Chuck Person and Quin Snyder, according to an NBA executive not authorized to speak publicly on the subject.
