Oh, I know it'll never happen. Nor do I want it to. But I have always been curious to see how a fantasy draft would play out in the NBA.

You'd have guys on the boards saying stuff like:

No way would the Celtics take Dwight Howard with the 4th pick. This draft is so un-SIM.
Would love to see the OS'ers reactions to each draft selection.

Can't imagine how fun a fantasy draft would be.

Oh MAN! Could you imagine the pro-Kobe/anti-LeBron fans who wondered why LeBron got drafted over Kobe!

If the Wizards get the first pick in the fantasy draft, would they take Kwame Brown?

A fantasy draft would be pure gold forum wise. Guys would probably just pass out by the 3rd round.

Steve would have to worry about more than moderation. The servers would explode by the 6th round.

Thing is if they decert, they have no union to protect them, and they get screwed all kinds of ways

Its definitely not a benefit to players because they stand to lose alot

They wouldnt be able to negotiate anything seeing as though there is no one to protect them and no contract on the table saying they're allowed anything... they'd be up a creek

True. The de-certification process is a high risk move.

BUT it's also a high reward move if things go their way. If the union happens to decertify and file the antitrust suit against the NBA and they win, this will force the NBA to lift the lockout via a court order.

All the stars have to be aligned for this to happen. The players will also have to make sure they file in a more liberal court, a mistake the NFL players made when they filed their anti trust suit. Most likely, their chances are better if they file in the 9th district.

The thing is, the players haven't even moved on the option yet. SO why are the owners already trying to block a suit that isn't even filed yet?

The owners are trying to block a suit that hasn't even been filed yet, because of the last conversation, and Fisher telling Stern that it was the next move.

As soon as the decert comments came up, then the owners side acted. Understandable. Now the players have to either do it... or back off and don't hold that "bargaining chip". Smart move in my eyes.

If the Players Union is willing to try to hold that above the owners, then the Owners can come back and say... "Ok... either do it... or lets get past it and move the conversation where it needs to be, and start negotiating in a manner that will get this lockout over with."

The interview with Stern literally right after that meeting, started talking about the players weren't even looking to move the conversations in a manner of getting the lockout over with, and then they started talking about decertifying.

                              Re: CBA/Lockout Discussion Thread

Stern is a lair. Like anybody else from either group who talks about the negotiation. None of them really wants to negotiate. Both sides really want a winner take all scenario. So it's not a negotiation, it's all out war.

I don't see either side winning in this fashion. We can talk all we want about how the player need the owners BUT how can the owners sustain the NBA without it's product? What are they going to sell as far as the NBA? The And-1 ballers? Yeah, good luck with that.

And if you don't think that the player won't push the 'Smart Bomb' option of their own, then think again. Yeah, playing overseas it's as lucrative if they decided to give the NBA the middle finger BUT if you think the profits are bad right now, let's see how much the NBA can market Hotsauce as their premier player playing for the Lakers.

I'm not sure how this is going to turn out if they cancel the season BUT it's not going to look good. People automatically assume the owners would have the upper hand with a cancelled season. Not all the owners is looking for a cancelled season. For one, Jerry Buss would not be too happy. Neither would Jerry Reinsdorf. All the big market owners will loose profits from a cancelled season.

So it becomes a question of: Who's going to turn on each other first? Will some of the players going to fold and go against each other to take any deal they can from the NBA? Or will the big market owners turn on the small market owners to make sure they get their profits for next year?

They can file the lawsuit and Stern will counter sue
