Last day of negotiations, no real progress to talk about. Probably not a good sign. Not to mention that I'm not a big fan of the owners who will be taking part in these negotations. Hoping for the best but I can't imagine them figuring it all out in a few hours of negotiation.

Another Fisher buzzer beater? Certainly hope so.

Thursday is the last meeting before the lockout.

The most interesting thing about this is if there is a lockout (which looks certain), nba.com will be pulling all videos, pictures, etc.

Take a spin today through the NBA's digital space and you'll encounter the usual stuff. There's a menacing Kevin Garnett atop the Celtics' site, with an image of Rajon Rondo on the right margin alongside a pitch to "Get Your Tickets Now" for the 2011-12 season.

Yeah, it's going to be a NIGHTMARE for all of the webmasters and such for the NBA. Having to remove ALL player videos/pictures, etc... only to have to put it ALL back up eventually. Sure they're praying hard right now.

              Re: CBA/Lockout Discussion Thread

According to NBA executives familiar with the league’s strategies, once the lockout is in place, the owners will push for a hard salary cap of $45 million, the elimination of guaranteed contracts and ask that the players swallow a 33 percent salary cut.

The concessions made in recent weeks, including the “flex cap” of $62 million and a guarantee of $2 billion in annual player payroll, will be off the table.

If this seems certain to guarantee the loss of the entire 2011-12 season, it is because there are owners who think it is necessary for the long-term viability of the league.
Not good... seems like a bully tactic but we'll see.

Wow, so basically agree now or prepare for the worst case scenario being pressed from us - not only the 45 mil hard cap but non guaranteed contracts to top? Can't imagine the players union was too happy to hear that's their strategy. Still don't think they can reach an agreement, even if the players push hard it looks like any negotiations from the owners side is just a formality till they can push their real agenda.

Of course they're playing hard ball because they can. If you dont think the owners prepared to lockout I dont know what to tell you.

Im sure they'd definitely budge on numbers and stuff, but the players has to come with something good on their side as well

Either way, looks like a lockout is coming regardless

Hard cap of 45 million is hella low, I'd say.

It the owners really do try to play extreme hardball after lockout begins, I'm not kidding when I say that the whole season will most likely be lost, and the beginning of 2012-2013 may be at risk too.

The only good thing that could come of this is that the college game is temporary restored to its former glory with top players staying 3 or 4 years instead of 1 or 2.

Do the same thing tomorrow. And the next. Now do it forever.

I bet the cap goes to flex.

That being said, I don't see the owners budging on the contracts. I think the players would be better off by signing the deal as is, because it's pretty good. Especially compared to the offers they will get pretty soon.

@OSU Not really getting the idea of a flex cap... how would that affect the nba in a positive way?

@jfsolo.. I doubt college ever returns to that, especially with the repoire the NCAA has established over the years screwing players over

Both need to go down, how do you do that while we still have active contracts that are trash?

Grandfather in old contracts and have a "flex" cap and in X years once those contracts tick away, we've leveled both fields. We return to the same Cap system, but with everything lowered across the boards.

The as is offer does sound pretty solid. Maybe a miracle will occur tomorrow.
