Hard caps wouldn't be bad if the ceiling was a little higher. Why does the hard cap have to be at $50 mil or less while a flex cap can go to $65-$75? I think parity in the league will definitely bring about a better product. I wish they could toss in a few paragraphs about refs and the ridiculous fines for not being able to state some obvious things.

One good thing about the lockout is the ability for the old timers to gain more rest and strengthen their body for whenever the next season officially starts.

I'm glad the NFL and NFLPA aren't as far apart as the NBA players and owners appear to be, wow.

Ball is in the players court, accept a hard or flex cap with non guaranteed contracts and there will be a season, don't, and well, I don't know. How long can they hold out?

I only have one objective from this lockout:

Make Donald Sterling bankrupt and make him sell the Clippers.

                Urban Meyer is lol.

NBA is making a huge mistake with this man. Wrapping up this thing in a timely fashion would have went a long way in helping them gain some fan ground on the NFL on top of the momentum they'd already built from this great season. They should have extended the current deal for one more year just to gauge if they'd be able to sustain the momentum that they have before locking into some 5-10 year deal that possibly falls on it's face when we reach this point again. If not that then the flex cap proposal was the best way to go. Bottomline, this is not what the league needs man cause this pretty much kills the 2011-2012 NBA season.

I really don't think the lockout will hurt the league attendance/ratings. It blew after '99 because they had to replace MJ, not because a large number of fans were bitter.

I'm sure it's been mentioned in this thread (I haven't followed it all that closely) that the new/younger owners are committed to sacrificing a whole season to get what they want. It doesn't sound like they're messing around this time. Definitely going to get interesting. I don't think we'll be playing basketball again in 2011.

The point is why mess with a good thing. Clearly the league is going in the right direction as far as popularity goes. While the league needs to be shaken up there's a common ground that shouldn't require a lockout or especially any kind of work stoppage.

I think Billy Hunter is doing the players a huge disservice. Somebody should be letting them know they have the most to lose and the longer they hold out the less ground they will gain.

Yeah, agree. Billy Hunter is a big reason for this in my eyes. When he said on ESPN earlier today that he was relieved that this day was finally here, that made me SMDH.

He did tell them to prepare for a lockout a couple of weeks ago. we all knew this was coming when the players came out of the room at ASW looking shook

Personally I feel that Billy Hunter is a guy who's always in way over his head when it comes to labor issues. I don't know what he's got over the players to make them trust him so completely but he really is doing them a disservice IMO.

I honestly can see the owners digging in their heels and not backing down. The players are going to be the ones that will eventually come back to the table and taking a deal they won't like.
