Maybe, but we already know that the owners aren't going to break rank. Even today, there have been reports that the owners are not willing to go over 50-50. So I don't think the threat of a court case, where they will have twice the legal staff, twice the war chest and a united front against a union that may not be united, will have significantly less in the war chest and less representation and being led by Billy Hunter will help save a season.

Yeah, the NFL had a better shot. They had timing (NFL offseason is much longer than the NBA's), the NFL's refusal to negotiate right after the lockout and didnt go through the step of filing a NLRB complaint.

Wouldn't a decert undo the ENTIRE NBA? Like I mean take the whole thing down. As in no more NBA at all. I've got it not being settled until 2018 anyway but ya know, like the owners just won't run the thing anymore?

Of course the easiest solution of all is "Take this deal or Donald Sterling will be our sole negoiator from now on." and we have basketball!

            What? no.

Decertifying would mean the NBPA is broken up, not the NBA.

              True. The timing is awful.

Actually I think they've shown the opposite. The have filed a motion for a declaratory judgment to cut the union's hope of decertifying off at the knees and have been very active with the NLRB complaint. I dont think they are scared at all. The chances of the NBAPA successfully decertifying are slim to none and it would be well into 2012 before a decision was even made (not even factoring in appeals).

Players are complaining on twitter and they havent even missed a check. U think they can go a year?

Decert also leads to no more benefits for the NBAPA as well... no benefits could be a big deal to a lot of the lower tier players who don't have money in the bank.

There will be no NBA season. Jordan and crew wants to vote against a 50-50 split and now players want to decertify. The NBA is gone for at least this season. To much internal conflict.

The owners’ faction includes between 10 and 14 owners and is being led by Charlotte’s Michael Jordan, according to a person who has spoken with the owners.

if I was the players, every single one would call fisher and hunter and accept 52% or even Stern's supposed 51%

                      right. now.

why? Michael Jordan.. we all know that man's competitive drive is second to none, now he's on the other side of the fence

you really think he'll cave in to any players' demands right now?!

                      honestly?

                      honestly??

TAKE THE DAMN DEAL, 52% and get this season started and play some ball

so tired of the NBAPA heads not seeing that they're jeopardizing the entire season because of their dumb foolish pride

                        Scared? Naw. Wary? Definitely.

Your last sentence is the kicker, I doubt the players could even hold out anyway.

Jordan's crew is only 14 deep at most. He needs 16.

Ummm. What? 52 isn't on the table from the owners. Never has been to my knowledge. I don't forsee Stern getting them to budge from 50/50... stinks, but that's the way it is. When you hold the cards you don't have to move.

NBA source suggests Jordan isn't just leveraging against players, but big market owners, too: Want a deal? Give more in revenue sharing.
Interesting. And there is an owners meeting tomorrow as well.

Wonder if big markets give in more to appease the hawks, hawks authorize 51 percent...

Nahhh, reading too much into it.
