Re: NBA Lockout and Collective Bargaining Agreement Discussion
The new hurdle is this. Both sides have come to an agreement about tax teams using the mid level. Tax teams will only be able to offer a 3 yr/ 3 mil a year deal for the MLE. They are calling it the "mini-mid".
The issue is this: Lets say Atl is barely under the cap and they want to use the MLE to sign Ron Artest. Signing him with the full MLE would take Atl over the cap. The owners argument is that since signing him would take him over the cap, ATL shouldn't be able to use the full MLE...only the mini-mid. The players argument is that at the time of the deal, ATL is under the cap so they should be able to use the full mid.
I see this hurdle as good news though. If they are fighting over small things like this...there aren't a ton of issues left.Comment

Atlanta should definitely be able to sign Artest at the full mid if they want to given that scenario. That's just dumb.Comment

Re: NBA Lockout and Collective Bargaining Agreement Discussion
Every time I read ” new hurdles emerge ” I picture Stern, Silver, Hunter, and Fisher in like a late 80s track suit with NBA headbands and NBPA headbands on respectively jumping over tables and chairs while negotiating for some odd reason. Don't mind me this lockout is really making me go crazy!
Stern and Fisher are wearing giant gold rope chains with the phrase STAND UNITED in the middle.Comment
