Players only went down to 53%. Owners went for 47%. Time for regular season game cancellations. both sides won't negotiate until games are missed.

Thank goodness for the NFL, College Football and College Basketball going on or at least getting ready to start. Makes this one less thing I need to care about, especially when some of them don't care either.

And you know what the crazy/weird part is? People haven't even begun to turn it's backs on the NBA and probably won't until about January and that's moreso because nobody(casuals)care at this point and have no reason to care.

Players turn down an offer to take a 50-50 deal.

The first 2 weeks of the season will be cancelled.

Stern said it was not a proposal from the owners of a 50/50...It was just a "lets try this out" and see what our respective groups say. So nothing was set in stone, to be fair to the players. They said no anyway, which seems to have pissed off Stern.

But he also said that he was pretty sure the owners would accept it. The Players didn't even counter with a 51 or 52.

I also find it hilarious that multimillionaires like Garnett are telling players to hold firm on the BRI. I hope he's willing to loan teammates like Delonte West money while the lockout continues.

Was he going to say anything other than that? Seriously. I don't agree with the players in this instance but lets not act like it was set in stone.

Yeah, I know. But you can't tell me Colangelo wouldn't be a better commish. That's just from my experience with how properly and with class he ran the Suns organization when he owned the team.

As for the discussions today, I can't really understand how anyone could support the players at this point.

Players could've played the 52 card and asked for a benefit on their own behalf..but wont move past 53...why?

You don't throw that out there if you don't have an idea what your side will agree too. I do this every day and my company would be furious if I even hinted at a deal for a certain amount that wasn't approved. If you offer it and your side balks, it affects future negotiations.

Very good move by Stern. Get this stuff out in the open...

Let the public see the players sweat... the owners threw the idea out for 50/50, which most of the general public will see as a logical split... and then the players wouldn't budge and "had to ask" the others to see if that's even something that they would consider moving towards.

                              Nicely played Stern.
