If I were CP3, I'd be down to sign a three year deal. That would be the window for those vets over there to contend for titles with CP3.

With Rondo, I'd say their window is just this year.

But anything beyond three years, yeah they're gonna be in rebuild mode.

In this case I do remember Rondo going all Steve Francis when Perkins was traded, so maybe Danny is thinking of the future and moving along..who knows
Last time he thought about the future, he was trading Perkins for Jeff Green.

Looking forward to seeing this thread blow up once the gates open on the 9th and teams have probably 24-48 hrs where they will be amnesty-ing guys they don't want so they can try and get the guys they DO want before they sign elsewhere.

If Dallas doesn't replace Tyson Chandler with Nene, Dallas isn't gonna repeat.

I have no idea why Tyson would say this.. but Dirk can play how he did this year and they'd get bounced out in the first or second round. Sorry.

In a surprise development on the first day that NBA teams and agents could start talking about new contracts, Tyson Chandler came away convinced that his time with the Dallas Mavericks is coming to an end.

"I really think I'm going to be on a new team come training camp," Chandler told ESPN.com in a telephone interview Wednesday night. "I'm really taking a hard look at all of my options, trying to see what best suits me."

Wouldn't mind Butler or Crawford at the 2. As for the others, I'll pass.

That's true. I guess it totally make sense for him to posture like this. Tyson knows his worth to the team and that there are no other centers out there besides Nene.

Also, Nene is awesome and all, but I'm not sure that he offers the same things on the defensive side of the ball and rebounding as well.

And he's looking at what Brendan Haywood is getting paid and he's like you gotta be kidding me.

                      I actually don't blame him.

I know he is gonna get paid BUT i still have a hard time excepting that Chandler is some sort of franchise savior, Right place at the right time IMO

In saying that though i agree with the Nene comment, i don't think they repeat with him as the replacement.. he changes the dynamic of who the mavs were last season a little too much

Chandler has basically hit the lottery.

He isn't an All-Star but he's gonna get paid like one and more. With this quote, you know his camp is planting stories now and will drive up the price to the limit. I'm kinda scared to see what he's gonna get. It's for sure going to be higher than what Haywood gets paid now, or else Chandler is out the door.

I believe teams will definitely overpay for Chandler, just like they will overpay for Nene, DeAndre Jordan and Emobert. Centers are always at a premium.

And what's crazy is, I forgot that this man already got a completely bloated contract to begin with from Chicago. A 6 year 75 million dollar deal. Wow.

He's probably at least gonna get something similar with a few less years.

I agree, I don't think the Mavs repeat without him and there are no good replacements. I think Chandler will get overpaid based on his last year, but I think Nene believes he is worth a max contract. I hear he wants over $50 million over 4 years, which is a minmum of $12.5 million, which imo is too much for a big man who only averages 7rpg and only got 10+ rebounds in 22.6% of his games...but I think him going to the Nets would be a good plan B to Howard.

Also is anyone else intrigued that Gasol allegedly would like to leave Memphis? It seems like that would be a good team to be on.
