And the driving up of the price begins SMH:
According to the Edmonton Sun, the Toronto Raptors are aggressively pursuing free agents Nene, Marc Gasol, and Tyson Chandler.
The Raptors are seeking front court help after finishing in 10th last in the league last season in team rebounds.
Nene, 29, has spent his entire nine-year career with the Denver Nuggets, averaging 12.3 points per game and 6.9 rebounds per game. He was originally drafted as the seventh-overall pick by the New York Knick#RespectTheCultureComment

You gotta wonder what guys like James Worthy, Pip, Bird Magic MJ and the others thing when a guy averaging 12ppg gets offered like 75 million + and they pumped out blood sweat and tears for 800,000 a year at one point
Anyway, I dont know if NO will rid themselves of Okafor when David West is leaving which would basically put them at zero big men realisticallyComment

Re: Official POST-LOCKOUT Player Movement Thread (Trades, FAs, etc)
Just been thinking,
ESPNSteinLine Marc Stein
A growing number of execs starting to believe that Magic will indeed give strong consideration to doing Dwight deal before season starts
Or is it? They could let a team absorb Arenas, and amnesty Hedo Turkoglu and instantly have cleared cap space beautifully.
Lakers would love to offer up Bynum and some other offering, but that may not be the best package. The other package that we can legitimately consider is Brook Lopez + Two(Correct me if wrong here) First Rounders. Deron Williams has made it clear - he will not be staying with New Jersey. The Nets thought they went all in and they lost. But what do they have to lose at this point? That's the new found out. Take Dwight as an expiring, pair him with Deron Williams, and see if they can resist. Build a few commodities around them to have a solid roster. Can't really see a way they don't have a crazy year in the East with those two together, especially with the media circus (here's your coverage Dwight, are you ready to open Barclays in Brooklyn?), and the circumstances. And if they lose? They can rebuild on a clean slate.
Just thoughts.Follow me on Twitter@DrewGarrisonSBNComment

Re: Official POST-LOCKOUT Player Movement Thread (Trades, FAs, etc)
Deron has never said he's not staying in NJ, don't let those talking heads on TV tell you that.
And if I'm Duhwight, I go the same route Deron did, regardless of where he goes in that I don't resign with that team and opt out in July so I can get a much better deal then compared to what I'd be getting now.#RespectTheCultureComment

I want Dwight to go to New Jersey just so that he doesn't go to the Fake Show. It would also be nice to see a lower team like New Jersey/Brooklyn become somewhat of a powerhouse.Originally posted by bradtxmaleI like 6 inches. Its not too thin and not too thick. You get the support your body needs.

We're going after Chuck Hayes too apparently.
I don't get it. colangelo says we need to rebuild and knock the team down a bit to get back up and now he wants Nene and Gasol when we just drafted our centre of the future...Comment

$800,000 then wasnt what $800,000 is now. James Worthy was rockin mink coats on the regular, don't think was worried about $ then or now.
Anyway, I can't wait until the 9th, it's going to be madness.Comment

Re: Official POST-LOCKOUT Player Movement Thread (Trades, FAs, etc)
And yet, Chris Paul’s agent has informed New Orleans that he will not re-sign there, that he will decline his player option at the end of next summer, and that he would like the Hornets in the meantime to trade him to the Knicks, according to Yahoo! Sports. The Knicks do not have valuable trade assets, unless you are high on cap relief (Chauncey Billups’ expiring deal) and a rookie who has not played one NBA game (Iman Shumpert). Even so, if the Hornets feel backed into a corner, they could work an extend-and-trade in which Paul would take a financial haircut. And if Paul is still a Hornet when he enters free agency, the Knicks will not have the money to sign him to a maximum-level contract – either the five-year, $100 million he could receive with New Orleans, or the four-year, $74 million deal he could get from another team with room for a max deal. But Paul could still force his way to New York and secure that five-year, $100 million contract, according to a draft of the league’s new CBA and a few cap experts I consulted. How? The steps:
• Force the Hornets to trade him to the Knicks without signing a contract extension in the process. This is the tricky part. The Hornets don’t have to trade Paul, and if they decide to, they don’t have to trade him to New York. Other teams have better assets, and Paul will be counting on those teams to bow out of the bidding if they think he will not re-sign there. Does this sound familiar?
• If the Hornets eventually surrender and deal him to New York, Paul’s Bird Rights go with him. He must then become a free agent, either by declining his player option for 2012-13, or accepting that option, playing that season and becoming a free agent in the summer of 2013. By entering free agency as a Knick, Paul would escape the limitations in years and money that would come with engaging in a Carmelo-type extend-and-trade deal under this new collective bargaining agreement.
• The last step is easy: Sign a five-year, $100 million extension with New York. The Knicks would have his Bird Rights, so they could exceed the cap as much as they wish to retain Paul.
This is the superstar-movement loophole the league could not close. In theory, this series of steps is difficult to pull, because teams would be hesitant to acquire a superstar and then watch that superstar enter into free agency; this is why teams prefer the certainty of extend-and-trades, and why the league threw some obstacles onto that path. But the uncertainty of free agency vanishes if Paul tells the Knicks, “Don’t worry, I guarantee I will re-sign with you if you trade for me, keep Melo and Amar’e and allow me to slip into free agency for a token minute.”"You make your name in the regular season, and your fame in the postseason." - Clyde Frazier
