Just watched that Kobe video...is the LA media always that dumb?

Man, I HATE the Lakers, but Kobe is growing on me with his smart ***ness

I wouldn't say all the erratic shots Westbrook put up last year were because of Durant's coverage through out the season either. A lot of them were just ignore Durant or the play Jack-ups imo.
I think one reporter (maybe Kenny Smith) put it best, but Westbrook was out there trying to play hero-ball lol. I don't think that's much of a problem, though, unless it seeps over into this season. That's when the coach has to sit him down and let him know he's the second option behind Durant. If he doesn't get it then, I'd explore trading him for Rondo.

Then again, Westbrook HAS to be looking at Derrick Rose and thinking in the back of his head, "Why can't I do that?"

Nothing against D-Rose, but I don't think he's gonna repeat as MVP. He'll get another one though.

Agreed. I think he benifited from all the Lebron hate last year also. He had a great year but the MVP was a couple years early in my opinion. I'd say he might come more to deserving the MVP 2 or 3 years from now when he is fully in his prime.

Agreed. I'd love to see him prove me wrong because I love him, but I don't think even a repeat of last season would be enough to win MVP this year.

Re: Official POST-LOCKOUT Player Movement Thread (Trades, FAs, etc)

After considerations, an educated guess, this is what Mitch's end game should be looking like with minor adjustments. I can see Artest or Barnes finding their way to Houston. Especially when trying to utilize dead weight Hedo at the SF, he'll be sticking around.

                    Lakers Acquire
                    Dwight Howard
                    Luis Scola
                    Hedo Turkoglu

                    Rockets Acquire

                    Pau Gasol
(Sub-sequent Nene signing, is it a mystery why Nene isn't signing with the Nets and is waiting to see what the Rockets do? Lakers are not actively talking with the "league" about CP3, and everything has been dead silent on the Laker front. No surprise there.)

                    Magic Acquire
                    Andrew Bynum
                    Kevin Martin
                    Goran Dragic
                    '12 1st Round Rockets
                    '12 1st Round Dallas
                    '12 1st Round Lakers
                    '14 1st Round Lakers

Why wouldn't the Lakers throw the CP3 package + Bynum, as Dwight is more valuable, and the Lakers got the most bang for their buck (Scola)?

Seems the only thing that makes sense if a Dwight Howard trade is on the horizon. Huge value in that trade for Magic, I don't see any other package that can offer that type of value in return for Dwight and clearing Hedo.

In the meantime, that gives the Lakers the chance to likely lock in Arenas with their whatever they can as far as Vets Min / MLE options.

Also - Houston just amnestied Thabeet. Clears up the remaining salary cap necessary to make their Nene offer. Houston want's Pau AND Nene, not one or the other. They can land both with the cleared cap from Thabeet + losing Scola/Martin/Dragic.

I was against it, but now I'm starting to think that losing pau and bynum just might be worth it to get Dwight.

I see what the Clips did there. Now once they get Paul they can trade Mo Williams,Foye and Gnomes to the Magic for D12.

I imagine the Clippers trade will be done tonight. I imagine it will be something like this.

                            Clippers Acquire
                            Chris Paul
                            Trevor Ariza

                            Hornets Acquire
                            Chris Kaman
                            Eric Bledsoe
                            Al-Farouq Aminu
                            Eric Gordon
                            '12 Minnesota Pick

Clippers picking up Billups seems even more brilliant now. Is Chauncey going to retire with a chance to play a sixth man role on that team? Mo Williams becomes expendable all of the sudden, and Ariza would be a great fit in a running offense.

Meanwhile, the league asked for Eric Gordon and the pick? Fine, give it to them. But that will cost them the Mo / Ariza swap. Can't begin to tell me that blocks the trade. League says they want both, there you go.

Clippers just overpaid DeAndre (had to), will need money because Blake won't be on a rookie contract forever, need money for CP3, just paid Butler 8 mil per for 3 (don't feel like digging), and Eric Gordon is -still- on his rookie contract. Sterlings not quite ready to invest that much, I'd assume, into his franchise that has never won. His salary is still relatively amazing... the Clippers lack bad contracts. I can imagine them having to take on Emeka Okafor in one way or another for this reason, but he's not bad to play behind DeAndre anyway. Simply can't afford to run as solid overall a team as the one listed above with Eric Gordon on the pay roll. The Mo Williams/Ariza swap puts it on level terms for the Clippers, and matches the Leagues asking price.

Agree. Ready for the rest of the pieces left to fall into place so everything gets the love it deserves.

Pacers look like they're going to be pretty well off. West and Mayo (Mayo thing is still going on to my last understanding of it) are two pretty big additions to a team that fought the Bulls to the bitter end.

NYK with Chandler should be better off, I just shudder to think Mike D'Antoni will be able to instill defense into the team. Chandler is the piece to try and do it with.

Miami should be much better as well, a full season departed from everything and the finals in the distance behind the lockout and Dwight/CP3 media frenzy. Heat have quietly improved their roster.

Lot of good things to come out west... Clippers, GSW, and Kings all going to be up and coming.

All this madness aside it's going to be a great season
