I guess I just don't see a handful of games where he played well as being being "the reason they won". A lot of other players had great games during the playoffs as well, not just Ron.

Overall since he's come to LA, he's looked awful. It wasn't just Ron that got them a ring. He wasn't even the third best reason they got a ring.

I would say Kobe, then Andrew's ability to play though that injury for stretches, and then Pau Gasol manning up. Ron played some nice defense and had a few lucky shots go in at crucial points, but other than that he was a liability on offense.

There's no other way of characterizing how he played that year.

He won Games 5 and 6 of the WCF, AND Game 7 of the Finals.

Kobe Bryant is the correct answer for games 5 and 6 of that WCF and game 7 was definitely a group effort headed by Bryant, Artest and Gasol.

Ron scored 4 points in game 5 of the WCF. Hit a lucky shot though for sure.

Game 6, Kobe closed out that series with Ron being his wingman.

Overall his defense was important but not to the point where you can give him credit for winning a single game let alone being the reason they won a title that year.

Kobe was going to go off either way. Artest had like 25 points in Game 6. That is certainly a way bigger contribution than Kobe's 34 or whatever it was.

And yeah, he only had 4 in Game 5, but that game-winning putback is all that matters.

Honestly not even worth discussing. Nobody will convince me otherwise.

It doesn't make any sense, but so be it.

Kobe went off in those last two games against the Suns. As he usually does.

Point is, if Ron doesn't carry they're asses in Game 7, Boston are you 2010 NBA champions.

We're arguing over something irrelevent though. I just think it's a little harsh to say during that particular year he was dreadful. Last year, so far this year he's definitely done some regressing. Saying he was dreadful then though was a little strong though.

Regarding game 7: What about Pau Gasol's contributions? Kobe had an awful game shooting but he still produced in other areas.

Ron is by no means the biggest reason they won game 7.

That's my point. You can't say he was "the reason" they got a ring in 2010. That's beyond untrue.

He played decently that year in the playoffs, hit a few clutch/lucky shots and played some nice defense. Other than that Kobe, Pau, Andrew all had just as big or larger roles in that title run.

I remember saying after that game that Kobe should give his Game 7 check to Ron and Pau because of how he played in THAT game. Dude damn near shot them out of a win but he made up for SOME of it with his effort on the Boards and Defense.

Put it like this, on a scale of 1-10(with 10 being the highest)I give him like a 4 or a 5 for that game and Ron and Gasol would get like a 6-7.

Again, I'm just talking about Game 7 of the Finals and not their performances as a whole in the Playoffs.

                      That's fair enough.

Ron wasn't dreadful during the playoffs, that's not fair. Everything else was on the shoulders of Kobe/Pau.

Once again Pack saying what I failed to articulate properly. When I say Ron won them a ring in 2010 I don't mean it like...the whole year or the whole playoffs it was all him. However with everything on the line with no second chances, a Game 7 of the Finals, dude pretty much carried willed them to that win.

I feel you. I don't think Ron Ron carried them in that last game. I really don't feel like he willed them. Would I give Ron the most credit for game 7? Yes. Other than that I will say it was a group effort.
