    Sheed considering making a comeback:

One NBA GM with potential interest in signing Wallace said, “I’d be worried about his conditioning in a condensed season.”
A league source told CSNNE.com Thursday night that Wallace will give the Celtics some consideration, but “he’s going to look at all his options” before making any decision.
From the C’s standpoint, adding Wallace would involve releasing a player with the Celtics roster now at 15 players with the recent addition of Mickael Pietrus. Rookie center Greg Stiemsma might wind up being the odd man out if Wallace returns (because he does not have a guaranteed contract).

I wouldn't be worried about Sheed's conditioning I'd be worried about if he plans on getting enough technicals to be suspended in a shortened season.

        *sigh* Rasheed.

One of my favorite players ever strictly from game aspect. He had the talent to be a Top 20 player all-time. Too bad his head wasn't/isn't there.

Damn, I feel for that kid. I think he has some place in the league as a backup.

The Grizzlies are again discussing whether to deal reserve guard O.J. Mayo.
This time, Memphis has explored at least two trade scenarios with the New Jersey Nets over the past couple of weeks, according to two NBA sources.
Yahoo Sports first reported the talks.
The Nets are interested in acquiring Mayo for salary-cap reasons as they try to clear room to make a run at Orlando center Dwight Howard in the offseason. With that in mind, the Nets have offered fourth-year guard Anthony Morrow for Mayo.
Morrow, a 6-5 shooting guard, will earn $4 million this year and is guaranteed for $4 million next season. Mayo is making $5.6 this season — the final year of his rookie contract. He has a $7.4 million qualifying offer for the 2012-13 campaign.
The Griz have not discussed a contract extension with Mayo nor do they plan to before the Jan. 25 deadline.
The Grizzlies’ motivation would be to acquire a bigger, more accurate shooter with an average contract. Morrow, 26, is a career 45-percent shooter from three-point range. He’s shooting 46 percent from beyond the arc this season in 12 games with New Jersey.
The Nets have also offered point guard Jordan Farmar, a draft pick and cash in a separate package for Mayo.
Either deal would save the Grizzlies money.
Farmar has a contract that pays him $4 million this season. He owns a player option at $ $4.25 million for the 2012-13 season.
Neither deal is imminent. But both scenarios are there for the taking if the Grizzlies want to pull the trigger, according to the sources.
This is the third time over the past year that the Griz have entertained offers for Mayo. The organization has most of its money tied up in four players — Mike Conley, Rudy Gay, Zach Randolph and Marc Gasol — and isn’t inclined to pay Mayo a substantial amount.
Mayo apparently doesn’t figure into the Grizzlies’ long-term plans as his role has diminished over the past two seasons, and because of the team’s financial constraints.

Wish the Suns could make a move for him. We need Dudley back on the bench.

I hope they move Farmar instead. Tired of this dude literally dribbling the air out of the ball and crying like a little girl all the time.

Keep Morrow, especially now since he's got hit shot back after starting off slow early on.

                        Headscratcher.

Why trade for a SG when Marshon clearly should be the guy logging the most minutes at that spot.

This infatuation with Dwight is gonna leave them Melo-less. You know what I mean.

Oh I agree, especially if they trade Morrow.

I think what they'd have Mayo do is be the backup PG behind Deron, if they trade Jordan.

Mayo was awful at PG when Memphis tried it.

The Grizzlies are probably going to have to take Morrow as it won't leave them with no more two guard except for Allen.

Still didn't like the Henry trade for them and they could have traded Mayo and gotten a big that way.

Kobe Bryant Recruiting Dwight Howard via Texts and Scoring Splurge
                                David Brickley | January 16, 2012 | Lakers, NBA

In the last four games, Kobe Bryant is playing at a level comparable to the 2005-06 season when he averaged 35.4 points per game, and won the scoring title. The Lakers have gone 3-1 in the last four games. Kobe has scored: 48,40,42, and 42 respectively.

According to ESPN’s Ric Bucher his recent scoring splurge has a little to do with recruiting Dwight Howard:

What I’ve heard is [Kobe Bryant] and Dwight Howard at one point were texting back and fourth about how much they would love to play together, and how exciting that would be.”
“And then it came back around to Kobe that Dwight was having questions about just how much Kobe has left in the tank. And certainly the wrist injury did not help, it looked like a very old guy out there.”
“What I have been told is this is Kobe’s way of saying, ‘Hey, young fella, you think I don’t have anything left in the tank? Let me show you just how much I have left in the tank.’”

The Lakers travel to Orlando to take on Dwight Howard and the Magic on Friday at 5:00pm.
