No doubt. And Howard is still the better player, but not enough to give up both Andrew and Pau.

I agree that we really don't "know" what Dwight replacing Bynum means, at the end of the day Dwight is still the most dominant bigman. He's been doubled pretty much the whole time since he became the focal point in Orlando (an area Drew really struggles) and knows how to deal with it.

If Drew goes down with a knee injury again, we all know how we'd feel if LA didn't grab Dwight when they had the chance.

Pau and Drew is a steep price, but I think if the right team is found in a 3 way, it won't sting as much as it seems on the outset.

lmao the way you guys go on about his knees man, sometimes you'd think we were talking about Greg Oden.

Dude...y'all have a bartender as a Scout and every member of the Buss family making personnel decisions.

Trading for Dwight Howard should be the least of every Lakers fans concern.

When is the last time the Lakers have had a PG that could create for himself as well as others on the team. If the Lakers could address that need as well as adding better bench depth, they are right back in the thick of things.
I agree Pau/Drew/Kobe are still more than good enough to win a title, the rest of the team is piss poor. Just terrible. I think the graphic last night pointed out that outside of the big 3, the Lakers all together average something like 33 points. That has to be accounted for, especially when it's not as if we have guys out there being defensive stoppers (looking at you Fish). Lakers will have a very hard time reloading the bench considering their cap and pretty much only being able to use exceptions. Kobe takes up too much salary at this point in his career, Drew and Pau make up something over the 30 million range together. Between the three of them they pretty much put the Lakers over cap. Seems really unlikely LA would be able to get UNDER the cap, the only way seems to be if they condense the big man salaries into one channel (Dwight) and figure out ways to cut the rest.

But then when you look at the upcoming FA pool, it's pretty awful outside of Ray Allen and... KG?

Man all this concern about the Lakers' future? Come on now. You wanna know what the future of the Lakers is? They'll somehow draft a future HOF or make some blockbuster trade that no one saw coming making out like a bandit in the process in route to winning another 17 NBA titles. The Lakers are NBA royalty. They don't stay down long if they ever come down and I know Laker fans like to whine about the post Showtime years, but seriously....every team in the league would love to have the Lakers' down years. They've missed the playoffs twice since 1990 and following that Finals loss to the Bulls they only managed to put together records of 43-39, 39-43, 33-49, 48-34, 53-29, 56-26, 61-21 and 31-19 before going 67-15 to spark a three peat. The Lakers will be fine. They always are, they always will. Especially with the tv contract they've got now. There's absolutely no uncertainty about the Lakers' future.

TV Contracts don't make FO decisions, brah.

Don't confuse this as me feeling sorry for them though LOL.

No reason to feel sorry by any means, but to think it's going to be peachy seems farfetched. Jim Buss is going to bring it all crashing. Jeanie has gone hands off while they burn down Phils leftovers. CHAZ?

Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying the tv contract is making any decisions for them, but there is no way in hell the Lakers are going to have some extended period of trash with THAT contract. The league will find a way for the Lakers to do alright if nothing else. We're seeing all this doom and gloom and talk like the Lakers are screwed if they don't get Dwight and all this other nonsense. The Lakers in the grand scheme of things will be fine. The biggest problem the Lakers will face in the next ten years is losing a few bandwagon losers who show up to Staples to be seen or a lack of active player jersey sales if they don't have a name as big as Kobe or Dwight on the roster.

Come on Drewski, we gonna use the one time the Lakers got they're handslapped to try to justify the league not coddling the Lakers for years? The point is as I said, the Lakers will be fine. They've missed the playoffs five times in their entire 64 seasons of existence and we're supposed to be worried about their future? Yeah okay.

LoL, don't care whether people worry about the Lakers future or not, that's not my point nor has it ever been. I'll hug the 16 titles gratefully.

League coddles the Lakers though? Hm. Ok. Just would like to hear how the "league" coddled the Lakers. Look at their team and tell me how they've done so.
