You don't want to go down this path Drewski. The OS conspiracy theorists will come out in droves.

Maybe the league doesn't "coddle" them but there is no denying they're one of, if not the, luckiest franchises in sports.

Just look at the players they've had over time and how they've ALWAYS been able to transition from having one superstar to having another. I don't think they've ever had any period of time where they didn't have a Magic, Kobe, Kareem, Shaq, etc.

And that's just scratching the surface really when you talk about how things always seem to go their way (no conspiracy theory). That's just the way it is.

How many other teams in the league has had the chance to go on and one without having to develop young talent to become great?

You wont find many.. and using the sedale threatt years is hardly justifiable because as soon as something like that happens a gift big man or magical trade happens out of the blue

Can't argue they've had the Buss luck, but that well seems out of water.

Where do you wanna start? Game 6? The Pau trade? The BS suspension Bynum got for repeated offenses? How about Kobe blowing up at the refs and never getting T'd up for it? There's more, but that's a pretty good starting point.

If I didn't know any better, I'd think you were trying to reverse jinx your way into seeing a Dwight trade.

But no, I highly doubt that well is going to be out of water any time soon. They're still the Lakers, and they'll always be the Lakers. They're still the team to play for and that ain't changing any time soon.

Kobe gets T'd constantly. Has 7 this year already, well on pace to be suspended before season ends.

Bynum suspension? Erm ok. Small puddle in the ocean you're talking about. Kevin Love stepped on Scolas face and got 2 games.

Pau trade? Grizzlies doing their thing with Marc, who many feel is second best center in league. Weren't doing anything with Gasol, cleared out cap, got a young big they were confident would develop. Good call Grizz.

Things changed when Jim took over and LA panic buttoned on Odom.

Don't necessarily think it's Dwight or bust. Would prefer better role players than Fisher and the dregs.

Kobe came in when the lakers basically had an option #1.. SHAQ, and had a slew of players around him from freaking Nick Van Exel to half of the Chicago Bulls vets

Bynum had time to develop because LA had a #1 option- Kobe and an added all star in Gasol

                          ... Fisher? come on man

They've never had to come through the ranks as a young team to develop like say the Grizzlies or the nuggets or the blazers or wizards.. you get the point

I know what you're saying but they haven't been a lottery team and haven't had to do so. Those teams have. Apples to oranges in regards to drafting situation.

LA has had great talent. I'd say a better example would be the Spurs. Constant contention and added role players through the years through drafts etc.

The spurs have had their share as well although they pick out gems

The summer Manu went bananas on the US, he ended up in SA the next season

Parker came in a Pop developed him for the NBA game (remember they were gonna trade him for J Kidd) but he had Duncan there already as well, who had David Robinson

I do respect their front office though for sticking with Pop and keeping in contention no matter whos there or not there
