All I can say is I wasn't too thrilled about the prospects of getting CP3 nor Howard. Yes it was intriguing, but at what cost? They were obviously going to have to part with LO/Pau, guys who were crucial to their two titles.

Now LA gets none of them, and has messed with the team chemistry and has now traded away one of their best players for nothing. Absolutely nothing. This is what you get Jim, for trying to NBA 2K the league. Now GTFO and never come back.

Damn I don't check for a day and Lakers fans are HOT. Wow. FWIW I don't think those Kobe rumors have merit. Can't see him playing it out anywhere else but L.A.

Sadly, Jerry probably won't have the heart to "Fredo" his boy, so we're probably stuck with him effing things up for the foreseeable future.

So forgetting for a moment about the catastrophe that Jim(who reminds me of this guy) has wrought, Mike Brown seems to have make a good move rotation wise

You guys did a bang up job this summer. Shipped off Lamar Odom and brought in Josh McRoberts and Gerald Greene and Jason Kapono. Awesome moves guys.

i'd be shocked if he requested a trade...

they still have some pieces in place....besides who knows maybe Bynum gets motivated now after hearing all these trade rumors.

i said it earlier today all they really needed was a solid PG to plug into their starting lineup.

I can't really see Kobe playing anywhere but LA

Laker fans should be happy they traded away Lamar for nothing? To the defending champs?

The West isn't exactly getting weaker either.

Memphis will be better [Gay's healthy], OKC a year more of maturity and full year with Kendrick Perkins, Dallas reloaded, LAC improved. Spurs, Denver, Portland will still be there.

No, they shouldn't be happy at all, they should be a bit upset that Buss' son is nothing short of jackass.

Welp, according to SAS, it was all Jim Buss. Don't have any clue why you would get greedy at this point in time. They had the team to compete for a few more years. Instead they have a weaker team than when they were swept out last year.

Please understand that any hostility over the Lakers' latest moves and nonmoves need not be pointed in the direction of GM Mitch Kupchak. The man groomed by the great Jerry West is simply too smart to initiate some of the recent decisions.

It is Buss who's anxious to eradicate any semblance of the Phil Jackson era just to cement his own imprints. It is Buss who refused to trade Andrew Bynum so the Lakers could have Carmelo Anthony with Kobe and Pau Gasol right now.

It is also Buss who hired Mike Brown without consulting Kobe first, dismissing his star's desire to have former assistant coach Brian Shaw at the helm. And after all that, it was Buss who, according to league sources, turned around and infuriated league owners by attempting to manipulate things behind the scenes in an attempt to get Howard with Paul -- before trading Lamar Odom for nothing but a pick and an $8.9 million trade exception after Odom, upset over the initial deal with New Orleans, asked to be traded.

Buss did this, mind you, with no regard for his present crop of players, all with limited time left in their careers.

"Nobody can blame Buss and the Lakers for thinking about their future," one Eastern Conference executive told me. "We get it. But what you want to avoid doing is alienating the players you need now. You need Kobe now. You need Gasol now. And as badly as you need them, you have to know they need some help. The beating they took from Dallas in the playoffs last season should've told you that.

"So to lose out on Paul is bad enough. To give away Odom is even worse. But to do all those things and [you] still don't have Howard, you've actually diminished your roster and created drama all at the same time. That's just not good if you're the Lakers."

my sentiments exactly. Jim Buss is an idiot.

i knew mitch wouldnt do no **** like this. he is much smarter than that.

like i said before, i was happy with our team. all we needed was a younger and quicker PG and a little more speed from our SF & backup Swingman position.

now we still dont have that (sans the rookies) and we lost Odom.

oh well, i enjoyed it while it lasted.

As much as he's been painted as the bad guy, he's really one of the class acts in the league. One of my favorite players (Crazy considering I have the hometown hero in Derrick here) and I really looked up to him on and off the court, especially since I'm only 6'1.

He told his team he wanted to be traded. I would rather have that than someone who was in a perpetual state of indecision. At least New Orleans, has some good young talent moving forward instead of nothing.

What is it that he did that was so wrong?

It's funny, I didn't really see any Hornets' fans complaining about how bad a person Paul supposedly is.
