True, not excusing his play. Just saying that some of those gimme layups and open shots would have a better chance of falling if he wasn't worn down from chasing and banging against James on the other end.
When subbed for Perkins he drew Wade and when subbed for Thabo he drew Lebron. Very tough deal.Last edited by Rocky; 06-20-2012, 12:00 AM."Maybe I can't win. Re: ****2012 NBA FINALS DISCUSSION THREAD****
OKC can't keep their composure to save their life, their 3rd best player has been AWOL something fierce, their frontcourt has been subpar defensively and on the glass, Miami denying the KD the ball is doing enough to disrupt OKC's offensive flow (which is already limited in its own right). Miami has also stepped up their D as a whole and they're finding their offensive chemistry with each passing game. It's no coincidence that Chalmers had a huge game tonight because the offensive flow was by far the best it's been in a long time. Chalmers got great rhythm jumpers throughout the night (granted he hadn't been hitting a lot of those open J's) and the rotating defense gave him more driving lanes than usual.
As for the WCF, San Antonio would have been a more difficult match up for Miami probably due do their chemistry, craftiness, team work and ability to play smallball very well. Are they better than Miami? Not sure at this point, Miami has woken up and stepped their game up this series.
Miami has definitely done some things right, and the Thunder do have their moments when they make some interesting decisions, but they did that in the Spurs series as well.
Lets not act like the Thunder letting teams back in is anything new, and yes that is one knock on the Thunder, but it's a lot harder, or damn near impossible to overcome when you're playing against 3 other guys on the court and you have to totally adjust the way you play. Again, if the Thunder would have gotten half the calls they should have gotten, in this game and the previous the series would be flipped, easily. I'm not even talking about the ones that could have gone either way. Just the ones that were blatantly obvious. The side show act in the third quarter tonight was an absolute joke and there were a couple late in the 4th where Durant got absolutely mauled in the lane and the refs just turn the other cheek, but LeBron gets to come down on the other end throw elbows in James Harden's chest and draw fouls and get free points.
The things that these guys are getting away with, it really is comedy at this point. I've seen at least 4 phantom foul calls on Wade in the past 2 games, one that SEVERELY affected the prior game that forced Durant to sit. I actually won't even get started on Game 2, that's a whole other topic in itself. It's just not even enjoyable to watch.
As I said, I have no vested interest in either team. I don't hate any particular players, and have the utmost respect for Dwayne Wade and LeBron James' abilites and LeBron's selflessness on the basketball court that we haven't seen out of a player in a long time, but this series isn't even fun to watch, because it's so predictable. Anytime OKC generates any rhythm whatsoever, it somehow gets killed by the boys in stripes. I will say this evening, the Heat cut the first lead because they shared the ball well, and played really good team basketball, which is scary when the do. Also goes back to the Thunder playing much more tentative on defense and sagging off, but when the Thunder started getting it going again anytime in the second half, it was all downhill from there.
I hate being "that" guy, because I'm really not, at all, and probably the most objective basketball fan there can be, especially nowadays where if they don't like a player, they automatically suck, don't do anything right, not better than anyone at their position etc., but really there have been a few instances where I watch a series, and I say to myself, this isn't right. '02, '10 finals with the most notable being Game 7, and this series have been ones, where there really was no logical explanation, and especially when they provide you all the evidence you need in slow motion replays nowadays, it just make things worse.
Again, I would be surprised if this even goes back to OKC at this point. The Thunder looked extra defeated tonight, and really I can't blame them.
And please forgive me, I'm definitely not trying to troll, nor trying to incite a huge officiating uproar, which I know can happen and is definitely NOT the reason teams lose every game in every series, but in this case, I can only call it like I see it.Last edited by JODYE; 06-20-2012, 12:29 AM.Cubs | Bulls | Dolphins | 'Noles

Still shocked that brooks hasn't played zone one time during these finals. It's the one thing I know it's in the scouting report.

Re: ****2012 NBA FINALS DISCUSSION THREAD****
OKC stats through 4 games:
Durant: 30.25 ppg on 55% shooting. 4.75 rpg, 2.0 apg.
Westbrook: 29 ppg on 48% shooting. 7 rpg, 6.75 apg.
The media is giving Durant a total pass for being nonexistent on the glass. He averaged 8.0 rpg during the regular season.
But in the 3 OKC losses Durant (6'9"-7'0" depending on who you ask) has had 3, 6, and 2 rebounds. That is pathetic for the tallest player on the court.EA: Please add in-game saves.Comment

Re: ****2012 NBA FINALS DISCUSSION THREAD****
Not only does the Heat look like the better team, they are starting to play like it. Up 3-1 they have to believe it's in the bag, just as long they keep playing aggressively. Attacking the rim while looking for open three point shooters.
I picked OKC to win in six games. Now,not only will my prediction not come to pass...the Thunder winning this series won't either. Even though I didn't care who won these Finals, the refs actually have me rooting for OKC now.
The way L.James has played all year till now, has been phenomenal. So I'll admit,I wouldn't mind watching L.James win a ring. I just didn't and still don't...to some degree, believe Miami to be the better team.
Thinking back on it, the foul on Durant at the end of game two... was HUGE!!! even bigger than what I expected it would be.Last edited by StankonYa; 06-20-2012, 03:09 AM.Comment

Re: ****2012 NBA FINALS DISCUSSION THREAD****
After just watching the second half again, I think the play of the game was Battier tipping that jumpball to Rio for the three. Battier is amazingly smart."To the last minute, to the last second, to the last man, we fight"Comment

23,
Looks like your suggestion of inserting Cole and J. Jones in the rotation is working out for MIA lol
Did M Miller even play last night?Comment

Re: ****2012 NBA FINALS DISCUSSION THREAD****
I really hate to be "that" guy, but I'm done with this series after last night's game.
When Wade went up and got blocked by Durant, they called a foul which wasn't a foul. KD/Coach complains, so they decide to charge it to WB, which was an even bigger joke because WB wasn't even close to touching Wade on that play.
I've seen many a questionable call in this series, but at that point, it became clear. The series is rigged, and it ain't in favor of the Thunder.
You can try to rationalize it all you want, but there is NO WAY a team that convincingly beat the Mavs, Lakers, and Spurs are having this much trouble against the Heat.
I don't care who wins, as the Thunder put out my team (Spurs), but I will definitely not continue watching a series where the refs are deciding the outcome.Comment
