Re: Chris Broussards Sources tell me Trade Rumors and Discussion Thread
I'm curious to see how Daye will turn out in Memphis.
Always been kinda intrigued by him since he came into the league because I don't think his potential has even been tapped yet.#RespectTheCultureComment

And no, this wasn't a contention move. It was said from the very beginning it was to cut salary.Comment

How much better was Memphis going to get if they would've stood pat?#RespectTheCultureComment

Re: Chris Broussards Sources tell me Trade Rumors and Discussion Thread
Id rather run through Gasol Conley and Randolph in crunch time personally. Especially Gasol since he can work out of both the high and low post.
This trade admittedly doesn't happen if salary isnt in consideration though obviously, but that has more to do with things like continuity and potential than on court production/fit I think.
Then again I dont know... doesnt make total sense as a financial move since they already got below the tax line.
Hypothetical though, if the trade was reversed dont you think majority reaction would be similar to the Decision/MeloKnicks situations where people kept rambling about how the pieces dont fit?
Think im overthinking a bit haha.Comment

I like this trade for Memphis. Yes their top scorer left, but Gay was avg 17 PPG on 16 shots, most NBA players can do that. He certainly wasn't living up to his max deal. I've been a big time fan of Prince since he contained Kobe so well back in their Finals series.
Offensively, Gasol and Z-Bo have been their best scorers for a while now so they should each get more touches now. Defensively, even though Prince isn't as good due to his age, he's still solid, has veteran experience, and was a big reason why the Pistons beat L.A. for the championship.Comment

To be fair to Gay, the rumors most likely affected his play. I bet he shows out for the rest of the year but then comes back down to Earth for the remainder of his deal.
I just feel like Toronto reaches too much. We'll see how it turns out though.Comment

Also, he's having easily his worst year. He could easily return to 45% shooting and then he'll be good again.NFL: Bills

I don't care if the rumors affected his play you don't give away a talent like that.Comment

Plus, they didn't just give him away for nothing. They got some pieces back.Comment

Nothing that's going to help their finals chances.Comment

Re: Chris Broussards Sources tell me Trade Rumors and Discussion Thread
Obviously. This was a move for the future, ridding themselves of such an enormous contract was their priority.. and they get Prince to try to be a stop gap. Gay's inefficiency was just terrible to watch this season and it's not like Gay does anything else but score [which he was struggling to do anyway]. He can't create for others and his defense isn't game changing.
As I said before, the only question I have for Memphis is: could they have just waited for the season to end before trading him?Comment

Re: Chris Broussards Sources tell me Trade Rumors and Discussion Thread
I really don't think this is that bad of a deal for Memphis. I know Rudy was considered their franchise player but he was an imposter franchise player and overpaid to boot.
I personally would have preferred for them to give one more run to that core, but maybe they have further plans for the trade deadline or something.
As for the Raptors, it's nice to see them get a significant player. I just don't like the fact that they already have DeMar DeRozan on the wing, who might as well be the SG version of Rudy Gay (poor shooting, not so great of a creator, and overpaid).
If anything it kind of seems like Bryan Colangelo trying to save his own *** and that's not a good thing for the future of this team.Last edited by BlueNGold; 01-31-2013, 04:32 AM.Originally posted by bradtxmaleI like 6 inches.
