Not sure how Raptors fans can be happy with this trade for the long run.

This seems like a really bad move for the Grizzlies. What are they trying to accomplish with this deal? I thought the point of the first deal was to get out of the luxury tax so they could keep Gay? From what I read on ESPN, they aren't even getting a first round draft pick. So they are giving up Gay for Prince and Ed Davis? Davis is, what, the 4th big behind Gasol, Randolph, and Arthur?

Like I said earlier, I thought the point of making the first trade was so they could keep Gay? If not, then why on earth did they give away Speights, Ellington, and a 1st?

        ITs actually ironic for Toronto

i Really hate this trade. you got rid of Speights, Ellington, Selby "to get below the luxury tax threshold " why would you trade Gay now? special when you'r a contending team. goshhhh

Kind of awkard because i'm a piston and mem fan, but wtf. i believed in Daye for like the past 2 years, this dude will not be a taller version of Klay Thompson. i use to have high hope on him, i always wanted him to get a shot, but he'll just be an average/below average player. i love Prince, but seriously the dude is not what he used to be.

If Gay stays after 2013-2014 season, then it'll be great for Raptors in long run. This is basically a deal that has to be made. If Raptors aren't even a good enough team in 2013-2014 that'd make Gay wanna stay, then there really wouldn't have been any difference if they had Gay or Davis. And it also allows for more guys out there to be interested in Raptors GM job(since BCs contract expires after this season).

Advertising to a GM that he'll have guys like Lowry,DeRozan,Gay on the team, could draw interest from hopefully some good names out there.

              From RealGM.com before trade was made official;

"Bryan Colangelo has loved Gay since his college days," writes Chad Ford. "He was seriously torn between Gay and Bargnani on draft night. I think he feels like if he unites them, the Raptors instantly get better."

Ed Davis will be a better player than Rudy Gay in a year anyway.

ZBo is getting older and Davis will be the perfect backup.

Raptors are stockpiling wings for something, I guess. Glad to see Lowery left alone now.

A few years from now, this'll look more win win than anything else.

Calderon will play his first game EVER against the Raptors in just about 2 months when Pistons host Raptors, a few days later, he makes his first appearance at ACC as a visitor. He's been with them for almost a decade now. Longest serving Raptor player in history.

This trade will get BC's contract extended, I think Rudy leaves, and Lowry has had trouble running the offense this year, could have even more trouble since both DeRozan and Gay can be ball hogs. You don't have a 1st rounder this year which hurts and you got rid of your best prospect in Ed Davis. Outside of Johnson and somewhat Valanciunas you've become a jump shot team with no real inside game.

I think you guys would of been better off starting to tank last year and this year and not trading for Kyle Lowry to keep your 1st rounder.

Daye is a nice add too, his shot has improved significantly, especially from deep, and its hard to find a small forward that is 6'11" and only 24.

Rudy really isn't that good, the more I look at it.

Memphis managed to get a damn good big guy for a terrible contract and then replace Gay with an aging yet more efficient Prince.

More I look at it, the better the Memphis part of the deal is.

This is an odd move by the Raptors. I guess BC is thinking that it's a big name that might get him a contract extension, so he did the deal. Although getting rid of Calderon is a pretty good bonus.

                          For what it's worth...
PeterVecsey1: Boston source labels KG-Hibbert trade report (close to going down) as sheer pretend. C’s did receive call f BK re KG. Kris & MarShon, no way
MarShon's value is damn near shot and Hump's real value is a year away.

                          More from the Memphis trade:

                          Ken Berger ‏@KBergCBS
Hamed Haddadi goes from Memphis to Toronto in the trade, but league source says he’ll likely be waived and bought out.

I agree, it also now allows the Grizzlies to move Zbo and keep Arthur in time.

Exactly why if you are a Raptor fan you should hate this trade. Do you still believe in BC?

At best this trade will make Toronto a fringe playoff team. At least they now seem to have a direction!
