All indications point that this was the MLSE Board willing to spend money because they liked the deal, not BC's contract getting extended. I like the deal for everyone. The Raptors needed SOMETHING done, hopefully Gay can regain good form in Toronto, and make a dynamic, athletic backcourt with Lowry and Ross(and to a lesser extent Derozan). This opens the flood gates for Bargnani to be traded as well, as he obviously doesn't fit this team, and unlike in years past, he's not the focal point. For the Grizzlies, they get rid of a guy who was ultimately holding them back, and can now allow their offense to flow through Gasol/Randolph, as well as make sure they're able to hold on to everyone. For Detroit, I think the interesting part comes in to play with Calderon's ability to pass on abiliity. If Calderon can teach Stuckey to play with more control, and make him a better passer, Stuckey could be worth what they're giving him. Bad news for Detroit fans now, though, you have cap room next year.
The most interesting thing about this trade is all the emotion behind it. Every player in the trade has only played for the team that traded him. Emotions are clearly running high in every locker room, and it'll be interesting to see how that plays out.
