For sure. I was just basing it off his potential. Just look at him this series against the Heat. He's had 3 games where he's scored at least 27 points and another one where he scored 22. The problem is is that is way above his season average, but you can tell he has the tools and capability to be a good scorer. He's not consistent right now.

PG is great defensively but you guys are going WAY to far by calling him the best perimeter defender in the league..
I think you all just toss aside the fact he has amazing help side and rim protection from his bigs and plays on arguably the best defensive team in the league.Comment

Re: Higher Ceiling, Paul George or Kevin Durant
Yeah, but PG is actually scoring well while playing one of the best defenses in the NBA in the playoffs. He's been scoring when they needed. Combined with the level defense, Its no way this guy is like Iggy. It took Iggy like 7 years to get where he his, while PG is in his 3rd.Comment

Re: Higher Ceiling, Paul George or Kevin Durant
going back to the original question. I think paul george has the higher ceiling. we can speculate that offensively he will never be as good as durant, and that maybe true. But look at the lebron KD argument. kd offensively is a better player than lebron yet lebron is recognized as a better player overall. I personally believe that PG will be one of the best players in the league in his prime. Mainly because he can be a great player defensively and offensively. BUT, its still a big if that he will reach that potential. He could have a bad injury or just strait up never reach his true limits as a player.
Forgive me if this has been all said already, cuz i didn't read past page 4 or 5.
All i can say is that we have our opinions, but only george himself will determine what hes gonna be. Because of his determination is why i say in his prime he will be one of the best during his time. Cuz honestly with determination, he can beat all odds.Last edited by OkayC; 06-03-2013, 10:57 PM.Lakers

Re: Higher Ceiling, Paul George or Kevin Durant
I'm honestly kind of shocked this even warrants a thread. I personally don't think there's any question that Durant has the higher potential (and is the better player).
Did we not forget that George couldn't even shoot 42% during the regular season while Durant shot 51%? Even during the post-season, George wasn't exactly lighting it up by shooting 43% from the field.Comment

In other words, we can talk about all the potential in the world but having a larger role resulting in less than adequate shooting percentages doesn't bode well for the "potential" argument.Comment

Re: Higher Ceiling, Paul George or Kevin Durant
He's well over a year older and has played 3 more seasons than PG. Let's not exaggerate things.
Look I think some of you take it as some sort of insult to KD to say PG has more potential. No one is saying he's better than him, not even close, but as I said what if Paul George develops into a good scorer? He's already a much better defender than Durant and he rebounds and assists the ball at about the same rate. If you think PG will never be a great scorer and stays at 17-20ppg the rest of his career, then alright, but no one here has directly said that(except ex). Everyone just keeps piling on with comments about how bad this thread is and saying KD is far better. lolIndianapolis Colts
