Hayes will keep the bench warm and Patterson will be a useful big off the bench with Vasquez... god, I don't know. Have to imagine a secondary deal for him or Lowry is in place right now.

So this trade is kind of out of left field... Vasquez is a big PG who can't guard but can distribute well, Patterson is a young stretch 4, and much has been said about Rudy Gay. Rest of the guys seem like filler to me. They already had Thomas so the Kings getting Vasquez in the first place seemed odd, but I guess that's done with now. Jimmer is up next apparently.Comment

SAC really needed a SF. Thomas was already playing great and needed to be a starter.
Playing Gay at PF is a terrible idea. Gay and Williams should both start along side CousinsComment

I might have comprehended it wrong, but when they said D-Will and Gay would be interchangeable on the defensive end, I figured that they'd have Williams start at the 3 and Gay at the 4. They literally have no other option for the 3, since they just traded away Salmons.Twitter: @TyroneisMaximus

It would make much more sense to just start Gay at SF, and keep starting Thompson at PF, with Williams being a sub at SF/PF.
To me this doesn't make much sense for Toronto. Unless getting Gay's 19mil off the books for next season was their only intention.
They don't have a real need for Patterson, or Vasquez. And the others I'm sure are fillersComment

the trade was not about what u get back, it was about getting rid of arguably the worst contract in basketball other than amare's.. way to much money for a chucker who shoots 40%...lowry will probably be delt or let walk at the end of the year (i think hes a FA this year?)Comment

You said it. Get Gay's $19mil off the books. That's a huge contract for one of the most, if not most inefficient player in the league. It will be interesting to see how him and Boogie get along. I always liked Vasquez but the way Thomas is playing you can understand it.
