10 days to the draft. It can't get here soon enough. I really think this class can be as good as any since the 03 draft. Sucks the Pistons don't have a first round pick in the class.

It's like people see a picture of him, see the bit of extra fat, and declare him unathletic. Is he the athlete Wiggins is? Absolutely not, but it's not like this guys a stiff lol

            2014 Draft Discussion

Regarding Jabari's athleticism, it depends on what position you see him at. Compared to NBA SFs, I would say he's a below average athlete when you look at speed, quickness, and leaping ability. At PF, he's as quick and fast as any of them outside of Blake Griffin and maybe one or two others that I'm forgetting. There's definitely a few that are far better leapers as well. He isn't as unathletic as a guy like Kyle Anderson, but there's a ton of SFs out there that are more athletic than he is, and he's nowhere near being one of the best athletes in this draft.

That seems a bit harsh to me. I'd say at worst he's average athletically for an NBA small forward. He's going to be a bit unique though and should be able to use his strength advantage like Melo & Pierce. Any SF that's guarding him who's quicker than him will likely be smaller and weaker than him but he still needs to learn to use that advantage more efficiently. But still, he's a pretty polished scorer for someone so young.

I still think he'll be able to create his own shot whenever he wants one he gets into better shape. Defensively will be another story obviously, we'll see how how that pans out.

put it this way, to move like he does for his size , he HAS to be athletic. I mean look @ chuck, dude was heavy, but are we gonna say he wasnt athletic?

We'll see. I do agree he should be able to use his strength to overpower some SFs, but I think a lot of teams will try to defend him with a PF since he's an average at best shooter right now and generally struggles to create separation. I think his strength is his biggest strength on the offensive end, and defending him with PFs will negate that for the most part.

mattum, parker has nowhere to play in orlando right now. AA and harris are taking up the 3/4 spots and i really dont see orlando wanting to trade either, but if its true that they are going to get rid of nelson then it opens the door for oladipo to completely move to PG and slip AA down to get parker into the 3. besides, if parker is still there @ 4 someone is getting fired from those first 3 teams
Oladipo and Vuc are the only two with solidified spots, and we still dont know what Orl has planned for Oladipo. I salute Nelson for the the work he put in Orl but it's time to move on for both sides. He needs to be on a contender now, and I still dont blame him for screwing up that 09 finals team chemistry. Thats on SVG. Anyways, Harris is at best a 6/7th man. AA wants to go to a contending team and I think Orl will send him to one because he is a class act and gives his all every time he steps on the court. Any player projected in the top 10 could start immediately for Orl with the exception of the 5 spot, and wherever we are playing Oladipo.

Agreed. If Parker is there and we pass on him for Smart then Jacque Vaughn and Hennigan both need to start updating there resumes. They have Orl on the right track but they dont have the luxury of missing on a draft this deep. I wouldn't mind taking Exum at 4 though. But your strategy makes much more sense. There will be multiple PGs we can take with our 2nd pick.

Once again, we have a gaping hole at every spot. Vuc seems to get better each year, so that's the only reason we are riding with him for now. But I do believe he is very close to his ceiling.

AA played SF due to necessity. If we had a true 3 who could actually score and wasnt still relying on his potential (Harkless), then AA would not see time at 3 at all.

So if teams put a PF on him, who's going to guard his teammate playing PF lol?

Definitely true. Depends on personnel, but there aren't all that many PFs in the East to take advantage of SFs that I can think of (which is where Jabari will be playing barring an unforeseen trade).

I think Jabari can still be a really good player in the NBA if he can improve his shot so that he's a knockdown shooter, but I think he'll struggle early on.

The majority of NBA power forwards aren't going to be able to guard Jabari, in my opinion.
