Re: 2014 Draft Discussion
If they are starting MCW, Harris, Parker, Young they better hope to god Noel becomes the rim protector he was sought out to be.. Should no problems getting buckets though.

Re: 2014 Draft Discussion
I think MCW and Harris will both be plus defenders before it's all said and done anyways. Jabari is the real question mark, but I think that would be a REALLY nice rebuilding effortNFL: Bills

Re: 2014 Draft Discussion
I wonder if my Pels would trade back in. Sixers have tons of picks. And I'm wondering if Patric Young will slip into the 2nd round.
Dude reminds me of Ben Wallace but with a better offensive touch. Though, just about anyone can have better offensive touch than he did.Comment

Re: 2014 Draft Discussion
I don't necessarily think any of them to be bad defenders individually.. Parker maybe, but I think it's something he'll work to improve..
I just can't see a team that starts 3 rookies, 1 sophomore, and and undersized PF having a good team defense whatsoever. Eventually perhaps, but the few couple years with that group will probably be pretty rough on that end.

They'll struggle for awhile, but if they get Jabari and Gary Harris, they have all the makings of a great defensive team. The other realistic option for them is getting Wiggins at 3 and a guy like Harris or Stauskas at 10, and I think that too would be the makings of a great defensive team.
As for me, I'm still hoping that Milwaukee comes out of this draft with Wiggins, Embiid, or Exum, but I'll be able to accept it if we take Jabari. I think he honestly will be a great fit in Milwaukee.
I really can't wait for this year's draft. It's so nice knowing that it's not going to be like the year where we were deciding between John Henson and Terrence Jones and I hated both lol.NFL: Bills

Re: 2014 Draft Discussion
Answer is probably real obvious....but what are peoples thoughts on NBAs draft day rule where trades can't be official until later on, meaning teams draft players, even though the entire basketball world knows before he's even picked, that pick won't even be playing for the team whose hat he put on.
I know it might sound like something meaningless to discuss, but I just find it stupid to see stuff like that happen on draft day. NFL and NHL allow trades on draft day and if picks get traded, the team who acquires a pick gets to draft at that spot and the player gets that teams hat/jersey. Why can't NBA just make draft day trade official if it involves a draft pick? Or at least make it like the older days where if it's a deal between picks, guys swap hats(like VC and Jamison did)
So we don't have to see things like:
(Noel, drafted by Pelicans, but everyone knew he was gonna be in Philly)
(Leonard, drafted by Pacers, but he was gonna be a Spurs player)Comment

Re: 2014 Draft Discussion
Ohhh, yeah, I've seen some people suggest that Philly will win 40+ games next year. I don't think a team of basically all rookies can do that in today's NBA; even in the East.

Luckily Henson turned out pretty good. I think he had a lot of question marks coming out of UNC.

Re: 2014 Draft Discussion
Bill Simmons was probably talking about this workout with Embiid. Have a feeling Embiid will be a no-brainer #1, his back looks at least decently healthy

Damn looks like he added a few pounds too. As for the Hibbert - esque comparisons I think this will clearly show how much quicker and more mobile he is than Roy, not nearly as "robotic"... I think production wise as a rookie he'll put up better numbers than what Roy is as a 6th year vet. Though I'm not sold on him instantly being a dominant defender..maybe in a couple years though, he has loads and load of potential..
Please stay healthy! lol

Re: 2014 Draft Discussion
Glancing at a couple mock drafts, I keep forgetting how deep this draft is. I don't think anybody will be a "star" from this class, but there are probably 20-30 players I feel like could be decent/good rotation players. Bunch of guys that will probably be second round picks I feel will be contributors as well one day (Isaiah Austin, Markel Brown, Russ Smith, etc).Cincinnati Reds University of Kentucky Cincinnati Bengals

Re: 2014 Draft Discussion
I've seen Isaiah Austin listed as a second rounder and I'm just blown away by it. 7'1, good athlete (and no injury concerns?), great length, can legitimately stretch the floor to 3, and can protect the rim.
That combination of skills is absolutely astounding. True 3 point threats at the 5 are rare enough, ones that can do that AND protect the rim at a high level are unheard of. Don't see how he's not a consensus top 20 pick.Comment
