That combination of skills is absolutely astounding. True 3 point threats at the 5 are rare enough, ones that can do that AND protect the rim at a high level are unheard of. Don't see how he's not a consensus top 20 pick.
He might not have any injury concerns, but he only has one working eye: http://bigstory.ap.org/article/blind...-isaiah-austin

Another issue with him is that he has no real post game to speak of and while being a pretty good shot blocker isn't a great one.
I think he should be a first round pick too though. I feel like he will be a steal for somebody if they pick him in the late first/early second.

Yeah I know about the eye thing, and while it may hinder him my stance is basically that he has had that issue for a while, not like its a new development. He has made himself a top prospect regardless.

And yeah, he's good not great at basically everything that makes him intriguing, which does make him a project at the next level. Still a definite first round pick as we agree.

The major concern is just how brutally soft he is. He can block shots if nobody puts their body into him, but he has no fight at all and he's brutally skinny.

I'm on the Austin bandwagon for sure. He's a perfect fit for Toronto right now.

Raptors have an early 2nd round pick, I see a number of big men projected around there, so I'm really hoping they do draft one at that spot too.

Embiid makes it look so easy. Doesn't move like a typical 7 footer. If Kyrie and Dion can learn to play together, I'm taking Embiid. If not, Dion needs to come off the bench (or get traded) and you draft Wiggins as the secondary ball handler.

Dude reminds me of Ben Wallace but with a better offensive touch. Though, just about anyone can have better offensive touch than he did.
I said the samething earlier and people didn't like that comparison.

The only comparison between Patric Young and Ben Wallace is that both have bad offensive games.

He's like 215 pounds. Even if he was 230 or something he might be going in the middle of the first round. Guards would be able to keep him off the block if he eer posts up let alone bigs.

Patric Young right out of college is better than Ben Wallace right out of college. He didn't even get drafted. Ben Wallace didn't become "Ben Wallace" til he went to Detroit in '00. Could Patric Young be like Ben Wallace after 4 years of league experience? Maybe... All the comparisons are saying is that he has the tools to do so.

If he develops a mid range spot-up shot, he could have a Udonis Haslem type career.

That's not necessarily true. Wallace was a beast on the boards in college, he just didn't play D1, therefore didn't get drafted. You can't really prove that Young was better than Wallace out of college.

Of course Young could become Ben Wallace the likelihood just isn't very high.

I'd argue that 11/6 at UF makes him better than 13/10 at some no-name DII school.

That said, there's no excuse for 6 boards as a 6'9/10" 250lb center.

You could argue that, but stats don't make it true. The accolades that Wallace accomplished at the smaller schools were very impressive. Wallace would have averaged close to 11/6 or more at a D1 school without a doubt in my mind.

                                Just from his Wiki

Wallace first played college basketball on the junior college level at Cuyahoga Community College in Cleveland for two years. There, staples of Wallace's defensive prowess were shown as he averaged 17.0 rebounds and 6.9 blocks per game. He then transferred to Virginia Union, a Division II school, where he studied criminal justice. Wallace averaged 13.4 points per game and 10.0 rebounds per game as a member of the Virginia Union Panthers, whom he led to the Division II Final Four and a 28–3 record.[1] As a senior, Wallace was named to the First-Team All CIAA and was selected as a First Team All-American (Div. II) by the NABC.
