2014 Off-Season Thread
@ESPNSteinLine: RE: rumbles Raptors already on verge of locking up Kyle Lowry ... all I can pass along is undeniable confidence from Raps about keeping him
@ESPNSteinLine: Miami's interest in Lowry is undeniable, but keep hearing Raps feel good about their chances with offer poised to start in $12 mil range
@HowardBeck: Also of note: Kidd's contract is not expected to include any clause granting him final authority over personnel.

Re: 2014 Off-Season Thread
Does anybody feel like these team visits don't mean anything? I'd probably bet the big free agents already know where they're going. The recruiting stuff is just so overblown and tiring. You're telling me there's a better chance of landing Melo or LeBron if Rose was to call or text them?Comment

Re: 2014 Off-Season Thread
phils great and all, but where does that get you if theres not championship talent on the team? 1 all star isnt winning you anything\\
e Dallas Mavericks and Vince Carter have a strong mutual interest to agree upon a new contract, but he is also expected to receive interest from the Miami Heat, Oklahoma City Thunder, Portland Trail Blazers and Toronto Raptors. Carter averaged 11.9 points, 3.5 rebounds and 2.6 assists in 24.4 minutes per game last season despite being 37.

Re: 2014 Off-Season Thread
Might not need it. With Afflolo and Jameer gone and Dipo, Nik, Harris all still developing, I could see those 3 all becoming close to 20ppg scorers..
If Payton is the playmaker and defender he's built up to be, and Gordon becomes the defender he's built up to be that could be a very nasty defensive team in a year or two.
Realistically I would like them to target a guy like Monroe to start at PF and leave Harris in that 6th man role, he was a monster off the bench last season. And his production isn't very telling because he struggled for awhile initially returning from injury.
But I'm actually pretty excited to see where this team is headed. If they can keep all these guys around it could be a pretty good team to watch.

Re: 2014 Off-Season Thread
I do not at all think LeBron is leaving, but I got to admit he and Melo going to Phoenix would be an insane team to watch. Phoenix already used their guys as stretch 4's with Frye and Morris, and Melo would be vastly better than them.
LeBron gives them more consistent offense on the wing, easy upgrade over PJ.
Plenty of outside shooters, plenty of defensive players, solid young big men, highly efficient guards. That team would be a handful.

Re: 2014 Off-Season Thread
Probably so. Which sorta has me baffled why they didn't keep Lamb, he's cheap and they need the extra shooters..
But Harkless, Moore, and Dipo all shot decent from 3 last season.
I guess they could sign a shooter and move Gordon to the bench, but a Payton/Oladipo/Gordon backcourt could potentially be the best defensive backcourt in the league.

So LeBron wouldn't answer the phone to join my team? I have about $100 and we can play some 2K too. Intriguing enough?Comment

We keep using 2010 as the baseline for this though, regardless of what we believe about that, it was ONE summer. Team visits have been going on a long time....and they are definitely won and lost based on what the team presents.Comment
