Re: 2014 Off-Season Thread
Melo ain't going nowhere y'all.
Lost in all the talk of superstars teaming up, is the fact of what makes the Heat work with having 3 truly special players: they are all incredibly unselfish. Their ball movement is terrific, and they are all willing to change their roles to suit the team. It's really a thing of beauty to watch that team move the ball and work it around for a great shot.
I'm not sure if Melo, Howard, and Harden could do that. Hell, there are very few superstars who can.
And even though they've been to 3 straight Finals, it still took them some time for that chemistry to develop and for their roles as well. I'm sure this is what Pat Riley envisioned when he landed Bosh and James and 4 years later, we see the results. Patience was A key and that's one thing many teams lack to an extent.#RespectTheCultureComment

Re: 2014 Off-Season Thread
It would be best for the Knicks long term to S&T Melo away. They get assets if they trade him and/or could possibly try to dump Smith/Felton with Melo. If they allow him to leave (or take back equal salary in a trade), they can use the full mid-level exception (since they'd be over the cap but under the apron) and possibly the bi-annual exception to sign guys. Then tank out the year.
They have their 1st round pick in 2015 (no in 2016, yes in 2017) and 50 M in expirings in the form of Bargnani, Amari and Chandler. They could probably turn Chandler into a pick and another expiring. They don't have a 2nd round pick for a long time (2018), but sometimes teams trade late ones away at the draft for cash. They would have their high pick and be free to spend in 2015 with only JR Smith, Felton, Shumpert, Prigioni and THJ under contract.Comment

Re: 2014 Off-Season Thread
Harden hasn't proved that he can get it done in the post season yet and I don't think he can be your #1. I don't think his offensive game is conducive to contending and we all know about his defense. Duhwight is a second banana, just like Harden. Their supporting cast is okay but nowhere near championship level. Plus Kevin McHale, yeah...
Of course if they were in the East they'd be in the ECF every year most likely."You make your name in the regular season, and your fame in the postseason." - Clyde Frazier

Re: 2014 Off-Season Thread
lol aint it funny the 2 trades people though the pacers won with hill-kawhi and scola-green/plums/pick turned out to be stupid trades ^^ granted kawhi may not have turned into what he is now if he was in indy..
--from realgm, this is what love had to say about boston
I’ve never really spent much time in Boston. I don’t know it too well,” Love said in February. “But I think as far as playing there, we love competing against those guys. I think they have a great coach and they have a ton of youngsters that are up-and-comers. “Boston is a great city. I’m sure free agents would love to go there, especially with Stevens as a coach. He’s a guy that can win basketball games. He gets guys to play for him. They’ve been having good success there, even in his first year, and he has a lot of young players. The coach has a lot to do with it, but yeah, Boston is a great place.”Comment

I'm a big-time Hill supporter as well from his time in San Antonio but you might be in trouble if he's your starting PG.

Re: 2014 Off-Season Thread
How much trade value do you guys see out there for Roy Hibbert? I'm sure a lot of teams would trade for him considering the position he plays and that when he does play to his potential he is a DPOY candidate who can still give you 10-15 points and 8 rebounds on an average night. The question though is how much do you give up for him given his consistency issues and his contract(though I don't think his contract is all that bad since it's only for 2 more seasons)?Indianapolis Colts
Indiana Pacers
Indiana Hoosiers
Notre Dame Fighting Irish
