You wouldn't want Hill? From what I've seen he's friends with Monta. He'd help your backcourt improve defensively by a mile. Calderon is turning 33 and you can easily replace his 3pt shooting in FA. You guys seem to not want anything to do with Larkin lol. Good trade for both IMO.

The Mavs do not need what George Hill can offer Dirk needs a quarterback not a combo guard.Comment

Re: 2014 Off-Season Thread
George Hill is barely a point guard. This offense needs a point guard. There's a reason Dirk had a horrible year in 2012-2013 with the likes of Darren Collison and Mike James running the point. Collison could barely even throw him a damn entry pass.
EDIT: To answer your question on Monta's position Matt, he plays both. His primary position is definitely at the 2 but he will be the primary ball handler and run the offense at times, though if he's at the point, he's typically just the ball handler in the PnR, something he's pretty good at.NFL: Pittsburgh Steelers

Re: 2014 Off-Season Thread
Yeah I wouldn't have known about all that by just looking at his stats. I saw him with only 11 points and 5 assists per game so I assumed he'd just be shooting 3s all game and hitting people when open with all the offense coming from Dirk & Monta. At least with Hill you'd get some athleticism and defense I thought. Apparently he's actually crucial to the offense. Trading him would be like us trading Rio...he doesn't get all the numbers but is a perfect fit in our system.Last edited by MattUM; 06-01-2014, 11:11 PM.Fan of:

Re: 2014 Off-Season Thread
Calderon might be the most underrated PG in the league in terms of actual on court value. He may not put up huge numbers but he does the little things well that you need a PG to do. He protects the ball, has one of the highest assist ratios among starting PGs and shoots the 3 exceptionally well.
Just to give you an idea, Jose and Chris Paul are the only starting PGs in the league to sport an average AST/TO ratio of over 4 (Both at 4.09) and Jose is the only PG in the last decade to average an AST/TO ratio of over 5 (5.38 to be exact) for an entire season. Pretty special stuff.
But, that is what happens when you play a majority of your career in Toronto. People forget about you.Cubs | Bulls | Dolphins | 'Noles

Re: 2014 Off-Season Thread
I will say that Calderon had one of the weaker years of his career this past year and I know he's a complete sieve defensively, but his shooting isn't as easily replaceable as it seems because he's one of the best shooters in the league and he's one of the smartest guys in the league as well.
I'm not very high on Larkin but if Calderon stays around and the Mavs resign Devin Harris, those are two pretty good guys to be learning under, especially with Larkin's skill set.NFL: Pittsburgh Steelers

Re: 2014 Off-Season Thread
I automatically like Larkin for obvious reasons.he's very quick and can light it up from 3. Has a lot to work on and doesn't have ideal size but I think he could be a starting PG eventually.
