    Re: 2014 Off-Season Thread

When I think of stretch 4s, I think of players like Dirk and Chris Bosh. Players who you'd think would play close to the basket based on their size, but can take you out to the 3pt line and drain buckets. They're good all around basketball players who might not have the athleticism of a guard, but have some of the skills of one.

Spencer Hawes is a center who has a good shot and is a decent passer, rebounder, and rim protector. A player like that is valuable to any team and can work good with different lineups. Don't need to argue about his label

Good to hear considering the Suns seemed to be interested in him too. And now with reports that Amir Johnsons ankle might not be that good anymore, Patterson might end up being a starter in the near future.

His QO was 4.3M I believe, so 6M isn't that much of a increase which is good. Just wonder where Raptors might be salary wise once Vasquez re-signs and the 3 draft picks(Bruno,Nogueria,Daniels) all sign as well. At this point I believe they have 10M left available with those 4 to sign. All 3 picks combined I'd say is about 4-5M. And vasquez probably for 5M also, so Raptors will basically be up against the cap. Though releasing Buycks/Stone(2M freed up) will help a good amount. Not to mention a possibility for a trade(Fields and his big contract? Wonder if Raptors would be able to pull some deal off)

Melo wont go to Dallas because it's probably not his kind of market, and NY can pay him more....but if he did go to Dallas, the Mavs would contend immediately imo

            Just curious...

Do you guys think Melo and LeBron know where they want to go already?

              For both:
Half of me thinks they are just creating commotion as a strategy.

              For Lebron:
Part of me thinks he's still sore from getting destroyed in the playoffs and really isn't communicating with bosh & wade about what he wants to do.

                Yup.

Melo clearly is looking for a reason to leave/not leave NY

IMO LeBron already has his mind made up. He wants to sign a max one year deal with Miami and test free agency when the tv contract comes.

LeBron: at first I did think he 100% was staying in Miami and he knew so. However with how their cap space is playing out I don't know if it's so sure anymore. The reason I see him choosing Miami is because, well what other team would he choose? Cleveland or the Suns? I just don't see that ultimately..

Anthony: IMO it's always been the Knicks or Bulls. I don't think he's entertaining any other option

To answer the question, no I don't think with 100% certainty that they know where they want to sign

Gordon Hayward visiting Charlotte on Monday or Tuesday. Hornets have a lot of cap space and some interesting players for a potential sign and trade if it would come to it, but I doubt the Jazz will do anything outside of match an offer.

Edit: Hornets also pursuing bringing back Ramon Sessions

                    Alex Kennedy ‏@AlexKennedyNBA 1h
They contacted his camp this morning. RT @rick_bonnell Hornets have not approached Ramon Sessions about a possible return to Charlotte.

I would really like to see him come back, our 2nd unit suffered greatly when he was gone.

                      Re: 2014 Off-Season Thread

I the only indications we have are the reports but they've all been unsubstantiated. Most of the sports journalists have no real sources.

None of these guys are breaking anything on the actual signings before they happen.

Melo said he would make his mind up this weekend.

I happen to think those guys definitely do their homework way before this process starts.

The whole team meetings thing seems to me like a necessary evil. Kinda how corporations have to do interviews and post job openings even if they already have a person to put in the position.

That said I just want to know what we all think here. Seems like a lot of posturing is going on to me.

I agree with everything you said but Zeller that guy is a scrub. If Charlotte is really going after Hayward does that mean they've given up on Gilchrist already. He looks looks like just an energy guy
Am I trolling? Am I serious? Did Dennis Green and the Cardinals really "let them off the hook"? What about the children? Find out next week

                              No.

They love MKG. They are trying desperately to get rid of Gerald Henderson. IF they somehow managed to pry Heyward away from the Jazz (Which is going to be near impossible given that he's their franchise player), they would play MKG and Heyward at the 2/3 and they could be interchangeable.

I think they should play mkg at the 2 and heyward at the 3. Idk why but i like heyward at the 3 better than when he plays 2guard. Plus i feel mkg is quick enough to play with other 2s moreso than heyward
