It was different a few years ago because teams were actually giving up assets and building cap space to make a run at those guys. Not many teams have that now due to circumstances really, NY already has Melo to worry about and nobody is setting up meetings with Bosh and Wade like before.

Some guys have signed already and a team like the Mavs with space doesn't seem to be pushing that hard. HOU is about ready to gun for Bosh.

Its just a different dynamic. Guys arent rushing to sign cheap with the threat of a lockout coming up so its a different dynamic.

What exactly is the plan that they have right now? If its not Melo or LeBron what are they planning to do?
They don't have a plan with no coach to guide them at all. There's no structure of getting this guy or that guy. It's pretty much gun for Melo or LeBron then will go from there. A wise man told me a man that doesn't have a plan plans to fail and that's sadly what's happening now the more we wait.

Bucks not happy with Knight? I also thought Wolters looked solid in his few starts.

Absolutely no way Vasquez is leaving Toronto, especially to go to the Bucks. He loves the city like crazy, and last I heard, he's close to signing a 3 year deal worth around 5M per year.

I agree, Vasquez is to the Raptors what John MacDonald was to the Blue Jays except, Vasquez has more talent and he's EVERYWHERE. The guy is a great ambassador for the team and I could see him being a part of the Raptors family after his playing career.

Besides i said the west should have free rain for the next few years, not free reign till lebron retires.

Harris official: 3 years 9 million

The inflation in the market for backup point guards didn’t end up affecting the Mavericks’ negotiations for Devin Harris after all.

Harris and the Mavs agreed to the same deal they originally struck last summer, only to mutually agree to pull it off the table after the discovery that he needed complicated toe surgery. The three-year deal for a little more than $9 million is a great bargain for the Mavs in a market in which point guards Shaun Livingston and Darren Collison were given the full mid-level exception, getting three-year, $16 million deals from the Golden State Warriors and Sacramento Kings, respectively.

Harris, a key component of the Mavs’ bench in the second half of the season and playoffs, likely could have squeezed more money out of another team. However, he said all along that he wanted to stay in Dallas.

The Mavs were equally determined to keep Harris, making it clear that he was a priority when Mark Cuban met the 10-year veteran point guard in the opening minutes of free agency.

That mutual love resulted in relatively easy negotiations. The Mavs hope the same holds true for sixth man Vince Carter.

Harris could play an even more significant role for the Mavs next season due to Jose Calderon being dealt to the New York Knicks in the Tyson Chandler trade. The tentative plan is for Harris to come off the bench again -- the Mavs love his chemistry with high-leaping reserve center Brandan Wright -- but Harris’ minutes could increase after averaging 20.5 per game last season.

That might have been the case anyway with Harris a full year removed from the surgery that sidelined him for the first half of last season. It’s possible that Harris ends up playing more minutes than Raymond Felton, the Knicks castoff who is penciled in as the Mavs’ starting point guard. (It’s also still possible that Felton could be moved in a salary-dump deal to free up more cap space if the Mavs need it.)

No matter the minutes, as long as Harris can stay healthy, this is a great deal for Dallas.

What makes you think the Lakers don't have a plan? Just because we think not hiring hollins was a mistake (wich it is imo) doesn't mean they don't have a plan.

The lakers definately have a plan, we just don't know what it is.

Knight might be a trade-able asset.

He's definitely not a point guard, either.

Wolters didn't shoot too well last year from mid-range, so, Bledsoe is an upgrade from Knight, definitely.

Everyone keeps acting like Miami NEEDS to do something or HAS to do something. Realistically they can resign the players from last year and make the finals again, so long as Melo and Gasol don't both sign in Chicago.

If someone takes out San Antonio then I think Miami has a great shot at a ring. As it currently stands no one from the West really scares me. Teams like Memphis and Dallas are bigger threats to the Heat than Thunder, Clippers, etc. for some reason those teams don't worry me.
