Re: 2014 Off-Season Thread
First of all, Brendan Haywood's contract is constructed in a weird way. Next season (meaning the 2015-2016 season) he is due 10.5 million, but its all unguaranteed. Essentially he will become a trade exception because whoever trades for him can cut him without owing him a dime. Then, they Cavs just have to make up the difference in salary probably with Bennett to give the Wolves some motivation to do it.
If this is possible this is without a doubt my favorite solution.Last edited by cavsfan2; 07-31-2014, 04:21 PM.Comment

Re: 2014 Off-Season Thread
Apparently Minnesota posted a picture of Mo Williams shooting a free throw with LeBron standing behind him during their time in Cleveland. With the caption "The Minnesota Timberwolves yesterday announced that the team has signed guard Mo Williams. Welcome to the team, Mo!".. This according to bleacher report is hinting that he's being traded to Cleveland.
This is the picture they chose to welcome him with. Speculation definitely gets far too out of hand this time of year, but that is somewhat interesting considering they could have chosen a picture of just Mo.Comment

Re: 2014 Off-Season Thread
Man with how efficient he's become and playing amongst other good scorers and shooters to take away some of the help and double teams, I can't wait to see what LeBron's numbers look like. Miami played in one of the slowest paces in the league, hopefully this team will get in transition a little more often and he can really flourish.. Not like he already doesn't though.Comment

Re: 2014 Off-Season Thread
One of the local beat writers in Cleveland, Bob Finnan, has said that the framework is set. Love and Brewer for Wiggins, Bennett and a 2018 1st is the basic framework. On phone so I cant link.
If true, thats a pretty damn good trade for the Cavaliers.Too Old To Game Club

Re: 2014 Off-Season Thread
Tuesday’s argument over abortion pills highlighted the stakes the 2024 presidential election will have for the court.
In a rather new development, it now looks as if Love won’t sign an extension with any team in which he’s traded, even the Cavaliers. He can get far more money if he becomes a free agent in the summer of 2015, and re-signs with the team in which he is traded.
That puts considerably more risk in a trade, especially if the Cavaliers are giving up a prospect like Wiggins."Twelve at-bats is a pretty decent sample size." - Eric ByrnesComment

Love would become a free agent only technically. Almost no way the Cavs and LeBron let him leave.Too Old To Game Club

Re: 2014 Off-Season Thread
cavs should do as ive been saying all along. chill on the love trade, wait till hes a free agent, then go at him. You don't have to win this year, even with love you still might not win this year, so why give up wiggins for a long shot. You could save your players, and sign an extra in the summer. And if love doesn't come to cleveland, then the trade wouldve been moot any way, because then you'd be losing something, for essentially nothing.Lakers

Re: 2014 Off-Season Thread
Dealing Wiggins++ for Love is already a risky proposition. Wiggins' rookie contract could be insanely valuable. There's no need to add even more risk."Twelve at-bats is a pretty decent sample size." - Eric ByrnesComment

Re: 2014 Off-Season Thread
If Love doesnt sign the second the deal is done, forget about it. You dont risk nine years of Wiggins for one season of Love.
I wouldnt worry about it. When Wiggins was drafted the Cavs GM basically said that all reports in the media leading up to the draft were completely false. I highly doubt that media members became that much more informed in the past month and a half.
I'm sorry, but given the the precedent set by previous superstars who were traded, Wiggins shouldnt even be in the conversation.Last edited by cavsfan2; 07-31-2014, 08:56 PM.Comment

Re: 2014 Off-Season Thread
Im not sure, so far this new guy Griffin has made some really nice moves. Granted alot has fallen into his lap, but I feel like he has done a really good job so far.
Anyway, here's a good recap of what superstars getting traded has yielded.
To be a superstar in the NBA is more than a declaration of basketball proficiency. It's a statement of exercisable power. Players of a certain class now have

If the framework is really Brewer and Love for Bennett and Wiggins and a pick...I don't really see how the bench and defense is taking a massive hit? That's not really a trade that guts the team...Comment
