Great news for PG. Hoping for a speedy recovery. Good news is that it was his right leg. Most jumpers most dominant foot is their left, so hopefully it won't effect his jumping ability.

Re: World Cup of Basketball in Spain
The fact that it was a clean break with no ancillary damage means that he'll be fine. He'll be back next season and should see very little drop off from before if everything goes to plan.
Very lucky. That was a nasty break and thought something may have happened to the Achilles.Too Old To Game Club

Re: World Cup of Basketball in Spain
you do realize thats not a normal 3 month break? espn's doctors are saying 9-12 months and based off the kevin ware situation i highly doubt hes playing pre all-star break and at that point may as well d-rose it for the yearComment

Re: World Cup of Basketball in Spain
Good to hear some encouraging news about George, considering the awful situation. It sounds like he'll be able to make a solid physical recovery. That said, as others have alluded in this thread, I'm curious how he'll recover mentally. I'm guessing re-building trust is a huge part of the recovery from an injury like this. But man, personally, I feel like it'd be hard to ever truly move all the way forth from an experience like that. Again though, I bet that's something specialists are trained to tackle with him.Comment

Im really happy that the injury seems to be limited to the bone. That's awesome news.Comment

Well at least I awoke to good news. That was a scary injury, glad it's just the bones and his surgery went well. Still feel terrible for him after all the talking he was doing about this upcoming season, sounded like he was really looking forward to it. Oh well though, health first.. glad he's OK. He can and should take all the time he needs to recover.Last edited by z Revis; 08-02-2014, 10:17 AM.Indianapolis Colts

Did you really think I meant the 2014-15 season? Come on man, I was talking next season as in 2015-16.

The fact that there was no ancillary damage will probably help a lot, He's obviously got a lot of work to do to get himself back ... but assuming the broken bone is truly the extent of the injury as reported...I think it's much less of a mental hurdle than say, tearing an ACL....I'm obviously not in his head though...
I can't really think of any NBA players who developed long lasting issues from breaking a bone though...Comment

Yea.
Bones have a great blood supply network (its even where red blood cells are formed). Plus the structure of bone is easier for your body to "put together". So that helps tremendously with the recovery process.
Tendons and ligaments on the other hand are mostly avascular. So with limited blood flow, they dont receive the necessary nutrients and cells there that are required for healing. So it takes longer to clear out the damaged goods and bring in new building blocks. Plus, the configuration of tendons and ligaments are much more complicated than that of bones.
So a lot of time, thats why these structures dont heal properly and they are never as stable as they once were before.
Much better to have a broken bone than any type of sprain over the long run.
Broken bones usually arent career threatening.Comment

Shaun Livingston on PG24's injury:
I know people are in shock from Paul George's injury. He will be able to bounce back bc he has a warrior mentality. I said the same about Derrick Rose. They both have youth on their side and sometimes these injuries can make you a stronger individual than before. It forces your mind to will the body to a place it hasn't experienced! I believe in Paul George and his recovery back to the top! 100Ohio State Buckeyes | Carolina Panthers | Charlotte Hornets | Cincinnati RedsComment
