Well that won't happen...Kobe's ego is as big as Shaq's wasteline!

yea imagine how a good player like magic johnson would have done with a teammate of shaqs caliber. Kobe has to renew his focus , but he also needs to learn to take care of his responsibilities as the primary perimeter ball handler on his team. Sometimes above all the wonderful ability Kobe seems like he doesn't understand the game very well.

His whole career so far could be summarized by the microcosm of him waving off a screen on the perimeter - Yea he has beautiful ability , and perfected skill , but he serves his filet mignon on a garbage can lid.

      I completely disagree.

Why would you build a team that would compete in the future, but wouldn't win a title, when you can do the trade and become almost automatically in the ECF or Finals? Why is there all this "build for the future" crap, when you could win right now?

Odom has the potential to be an all-star caliber SF/PF... but we all saw what happened with Jermaine O'Neal and the Heat... either Brian Grant or Odom was guarding him, and he demolished them...

So... the Heat are getting a chance at the Finals this year... I'm predicting the Heat vs Spurs in the Finals this year...

            Come on Martin,

Magic played with a better big man. His name was Kareem Abdul Jabbar. He actually played a game resembling basketball. He was skillfull, could handle the ball, could shoot free throws, and is the games second best center behind Wilt (Just ahead of Olujawon).

The NBA back in those days wouldn't have tolerated the shenanigans we see today. One man throwing everybody around (dislodging them from the defensive positions), shuffling his feet (that's after the one bounce dribble), just so he can get point blank to the basket and dunk. See in today's game, it's not about basketball, it's marketing. So if you call one guy "the most dominating player" then you have to call the game to reflect that.

                  Where's Devean George? He's making 5 mil a year.

This deal would leave the Heat with some holes to fill, they have absolutely no depth in their frontcourt now (Odom & Grant r playing out of position), with O'Neal's contract, they will need to use the MLE for a 4, vet. min. to sign a couple back-up bigs. They need a point & back-up point(Wade is a shooting guard, period.) Boy, maybe they should have drafted Jameer instead another wing player or resigned Alston. Also, Jones & Wade r not really great shooters, they're slashers; u need to sign a couple of dead-eyes when playin with Shaq. With Shaq & Jones u r eating up about $40 mil of cap, with many glaring holes to fill.

There's no way the Lakers should make this deal without Dwayne Wade involved! I'm not sure if I would even ask for Lamar Odom. Wade, Caron Butler and Brian Grant would be a better fit for the Lakers. But the only reason dealing with the Heat is even a thought is because the Lakers are so obsessed with trading Shaq to the East. They need to be more concerned with what they get than who they're trading with.
After more than eight years on here, I finally figured out how to edit my time zone!
