There's no way the Lakers should make this deal without Dwayne Wade involved! I'm not sure if I would even ask for Lamar Odom. Wade, Caron Butler and Brian Grant would be a better fit for the Lakers. But the only reason dealing with the Heat is even a thought is because the Lakers are so obsessed with trading Shaq to the East. They need to be more concerned with what they get than who they're trading with.

Kupcake isn't too bright man. He would have gotten better deals if he had shut his mouth and privately did his GM thing, but he has to call Shaq out in public, and is now forced to hurry up to deal him since he also is threatened that Kobe will jump ship.

Oh, geez. You sound like those impatients GMs -- they have a great squad NOW. Wade, Jones, Butler, Odom, and Grant -- Wade, Butler, and Odom are only going to get better. Shaq has 2-3 years left in him. If they pull off the trade, I don't see them going any further in the playoffs than they did this year.

Shaq is only 32. I could see him playing 8 more years anyway. Most big men play till they are about 40 and with his strenghth I could see him being effective longer than that. Remember they said Wilt used to come to Lakers practice when he was in his 50's and dominate.

by the time shaq is 40,he'll weigh 430 pounds..the man does not know how to get into shape in the offseason...having said that,i'd still do the trade and think he has a good 3-4 years left...

                  I completely disagree.

Why would you build a team that would compete in the future, but wouldn't win a title, when you can do the trade and become almost automatically in the ECF or Finals? Why is there all this "build for the future" crap, when you could win right now?

Odom has the potential to be an all-star caliber SF/PF... but we all saw what happened with Jermaine O'Neal and the Heat... either Brian Grant or Odom was guarding him, and he demolished them...

So... the Heat are getting a chance at the Finals this year... I'm predicting the Heat vs Spurs in the Finals this year...

Im torn on this trade. Miami was average last year, but had a great playoff run. I think the risk is what if Shaq gets hurt our is out of shape. The hope is he comes out angry and hungry

Just for the record, some are asking why Wade isnt involved. The lakers asked for him, and the HEat said hell no. Rudy T said he liked Odum just as much, so they asked for him

Yeah but they also asked for Caron. I dont like this deal for Miami too much, but Miami is probably trying to get Grants contract off the books. Hopefully if Shaq goes, there is no injuried, because they will have no depth.

Sorry to say Shaq's better years are behind him. Especially if he goes to the Heat. He can still be the most dominating player until he's 40, but only if he gets back into shape. If that doesn't happen, he plays no more than two or three more years.
After more than eight years on here, I finally figured out how to edit my time zone!
