    My thoughts exactly, man.

Are you crazy ? Shaq is the most valuable player in the NBA. Who else can go into the PLAYOFFS and score 30 a night while shooting 50%+ and causing crazy amount of fouls and get like 11 rebounds?
Sorry but Miami as they were was still a good bigman away from improving to a team that even had an honest outside hope of a chance for contending for the title.

If you are a heat fan you are supposed to be dancing in the streets if this deal goes through because u just went from an "athletic team" to Shaquille O'neal vieing for his championship. Wade will probably adjust his game to compliment shaq (based on the heart wade has shown in college and the playoffs) they still have eddie jones and malik allen - that is a hell of a 4 right there and it could be a hell of a 5 if they have either Butler. Odom is an underachieving Groupie-hound who finally was in shape and playing some defense for the first time last season. He hasn't shown a lot of consistency, he is like half of Shaqs value. Shaq is so special because he is not only that top ranked champ , but is the best playoff player in the NBA by almost 2 notches. Wades natural improvement should offset nearly all the perimeter value that odom gave Miami , in fact thinking of the future of the heat - Wade is a better man to take those crucial jumpers then odoms

Shaq skips right over the hope and gives them the expectation of competing for the title for each of the next 2to4 seasons that he plays if he continues to stay healthy. With Wade,Jones,Shaq,Malik Allen and possibly Rasual or caron butler the heat are the favorite for the title in the East. Sorry Detroit Fans. The title is the reason you are supposed to be playing for ,even if u view it as an investment, a championship or 2 with shaq (or even a strong showing in the Finals)will be worth more to the Heat then a string of 1st and 2nd round playoff losses year after year until eventually wade becomes a max level salary , Eddie Jones Retires, etc , etc...

it still won't make either team better than the pistons imo. Besides is caron butler or lamar odom a good outside shooter? because they all seem like slashers too me. Lakers would need an outside shooter (Brent Barry would have been good), and they need someone to get boards and do the dirty work (brian grant is a bit small to do this especially in the west with guys like kg, td, and yao)
Just wait till Arsenal moves into Emirates Stadium.

yea imagine how a good player like magic johnson would have done with a teammate of shaqs caliber. Kobe has to renew his focus , but he also needs to learn to take care of his responsibilities as the primary perimeter ball handler on his team. Sometimes above all the wonderful ability Kobe seems like he doesn't understand the game very well.

His whole career so far could be summarized by the microcosm of him waving off a screen on the perimeter - Yea he has beautiful ability , and perfected skill , but he serves his filet mignon on a garbage can lid.

Look at Caron's stats 2 years ago. They're pretty solid.

                              15 pts 5 boards 3 assists 2 steals

Thats something that the Lakers can use, plus he's still really young. He has a chance to be a great player, he just needs good coaching and the right atmosphere to excel.
