Teams clearly overspending with these longer max contracts because when the cap goes up, that's not a max contract anymore.

Is Dwight Howard worth a max contract? Im talking about the Howard of today, not 5 years ago.

IF and its a HUGE IF, they get Javale and if he's half as effective on blocks and rebounds for 2 million, then 20 million looks like too much

Emeka Okafor is still out there, wondering if he's recovered from his back problems yet. He could be a sleeper pickup for somebody that needs a big man, like LAC.

That's the one thing that really bothers me about the NBA, as opposed to other sports. You know the (very) few teams that actually have a chance to win before the year even begins.

He is just making the pr wall for himself for when he leave.

But man this feels so weird. As a spurs fan im ecstatic to have LaMarcus but man we lost some good dudes in acquiring him. I gonna Splitter the most. Sure most fans didnt like him since he was built in our heads as the guy who was gonna replace Duncan and he never got to that level but he was however a big part of our run in 2012-2014 on the defensive end. But alteast hes going to Atlanta where i know the coaching staff will know how to use him.

But anyways now the spurs need a backup big (Amare,West) and a shooter (Luke Babbit) and we are good into this season.

                      Yes.

The league values his defense and rebounding. And teams would get involved to make it a max contract.

The league obviously values DeAndre Jordan's rebounding and defense also...as well as his youth and the fact that he can actually play 35+ minutes per game and 82 games.

Id rather have Jordan right now and over the next few seasons than Howard. Ill be surprised if Howard ever goes another season without missing a significant chunk of games. Then there is also the drama that you mentioned..

Not true. Did we know Golden State was going to be the dominant squad it was last offseason? What about Atlanta?
