Re: 2015 Offseason Thread
Yeah, the field was crowded at Ersan's spot for the Bucks. His 8 million and rising age (29) and nagging injuries will be good to see on another team.
Plus, clears cap space to sign Middleton, good all the way around.Last edited by roadman; 06-11-2015, 07:32 PM.Comment

Re: 2015 Offseason Thread
Monta Ellis News
Monta Ellis reportedly plans to opt out of his contract, which would pay $8.72 million next season.
He could probably draw more than that on the open market. But in Dallas? The Mavericks haven’t exactly been pleased with him, apparently including his ability to mesh with last year’s prized free agent catch, Chandler Parsons.
Ellis should not anticipate that raise coming from the Mavs, who would rather move on than make a major long-term investment in a one-dimensional player whose moodiness and selfishness negatively impacted the team’s chemistry last season, according to source’s with knowledge of the front office’s thought process.
It also didn’t help matters that Ellis and Parsons didn’t click off the court, an issue many within the organization suspect was influenced by Ellis’ bitterness about Parsons being paid almost twice as much as him.
If the Mavs sign LaMarcus Aldridge, their next top priority will be keeping Tyson Chandler. That would eat up the vast majority, if not all, of their remaining cap space, forcing the Mavs to fill their starting backcourt for next season in thrifty fashion.
If the Mavs sign DeAndre Jordan, they’d attempt to fill Ellis’ spot in the starting lineup with a bigger, better defender with the perimeter shooting ability to space the floor offensively. San Antonio’s Danny Green and Portland’s Wesley Matthews are the two best fits available in free agency this summer, although Matthews might not be ready to start the season as he recovers from a torn Achilles tendon.
This might be a threat to convince Ellis to opt into his below-market salary. Whatever issues they have with him, the Mavericks would probably welcome back Ellis for $8.72 million.
And if he opts out, Dallas could reverse course and offer more – especially if they miss on Aldridge and Jordan.
I can see why the Mavericks have grander plans. But unless Ellis just really wants to stay in Dallas, he shouldn’t fear the unknown. If he opts out, I’d count on him getting a more lucrative contract – maybe even from the Mavericks.#RespectTheCultureComment

Re: 2015 Offseason Thread
Not that there's a high chance any of the max guys bite, but Milwaukee could theoretically sign a max guy and re-sign Middleton this offseason now.
$22 mil in cap space if we let Butler and Williams go. Also opens up possibilities of taking on a contract while acquiring more assets.

Milwaukee Bucks News
The Bucks are an up-and-coming young team. They won 41 games last season (good enough for the six seed in the East). With a young core of Giannis Antetokounmpo, Khris Middleton, Michael Carter-Williams, and John Henson they are long, defend well, and are improving on offense.
They also have a ton of cap space. Especially after their trade of Ersan Ilyasova, they will have at least $16 million and it could be up to nearly $30 million after they waive Caron Butler and Shawne Williams (the final number depending on what happens with Jared Dudley, and re-signing Khris Middleton).
What is Milwaukee going to do with all that cash? Chase a center, reports Marc Stein of ESPN.
League sources say the Bucks want a proven center in free agency if they can score one, and have pinpointed two kinds of former All-Stars — Dallas’ Tyson Chandler and Brooklyn’s Brook Lopez — as targets for the top of their wish list.
Bucks coach Jason Kidd knows both of them well, having played alongside Chandler in both Dallas and New York and having coached Lopez with the Nets. And word is that Milwaukee intends to chase both hard come July 1 in hopes of emerging as a serious contender for at least one of them.
The Bucks need size up front, at least size they can count on more than they’ve gotten from Larry Sanders. Chander is 32 and has had injury issues before last season, but for a defensive-minded team he’s a great anchor. Plus, he’s a veteran and a real professional who could guide the young team.
Lopez is as good an offensive center as there is around the league and would provide versatility and shooting up front.
It will be a real test of coach Jason Kidd and a good young Bucks team to see if they can get in the mix on these guys. Milwaukee is not a traditional free agent magnet. But cash and the chance to win can be a strong lure.#RespectTheCultureComment

Unless I'm just missing it, it's kind of strange that they don't mention Parker in that beginning sentence about their young core of players.Jordan Mychal Lemos

Do this today: Instead of $%*#!@& on a game you're not going to play or movie you're not going to watch, say something good about a piece of media you're excited about.
Do the same thing tomorrow. And the next. Now do it forever.Comment
