    Re: 2015 Offseason Thread

Feels like I'm in the twilight zone, dudes are actually for us getting another all star center from another team yet again.

And those of us who want to rebuild thru the draft lack common sense all of sudden or have overrated Clarkson because we prefer to do something out of the norm for this organization 😷😷😷

I wouldn't be against Cousins at all but they better have a solid plan for whichever route is chosen, no more reload Bull**** give me a blend of f/a and the draft, all that cap space won't mean squat if we end up with no one like the rest of those 2010 Summer Cap space winners.

BTW, I think we should start a draft thread later today so I can sticky it just for the draft

Sounds like the Warriors aren't poised to trade David Lee tonight during the draft. More likely will re-assess the market in a few weeks.

That brand don't mean as much as people think it is, as we've seen over the years.

As for cap space, they've had that for awhile and who exactly has ran over there to play for them again? I mean it was just a year ago that we were mocking them for not getting anybody to play there DESPITE having space.

I mean if playing with DeMarcus Cousins was all FAs wanted, then why didn't they go to Sacramento?

Like Atlanta not having DeMare Carroll's bird rights
Monta looking for a new home
Ridnor and Lamb traded - and yes people care about the Hornets and OKC
Where is Aldridge going to go, and how did his name even end up in rumors with San Antonio in the first place? Nobody ever wants to go there

Sure we went on with Miami already but will the Cavs lose Love whom Houston and Boston is also trying to get?

and I could go on.... Cmon man as of right now this is all fantasy talk among other things actually happening
I havent heard anything about Wes Mathews too, to add to that group. Also Sascha Kaun is expected to be coming over from AK47s Russian team.

Not to mention, unless they pull another tank job next season and get one of the top 3 pics, the Lakers will have to send their '16 first-rounder to the Sixers. In turn, if they send that pick to the Sixers next season, then they send their '18 first-rounder (top-5 protected) or '19 first-rounder (unprotected) to Orlando.

Cap space or bust, I guess...

This is why there's this big huge discussion about this. At least from my chair anyway. Guys weren't going to Sacramento because it's a dumpster fire of an organization. THE OWNER FIRED A GOOD COACH THAT THE STAR PLAYER GOT ALONG WITH BECAUSE HE RIGHTLY DIDN'T WANT TO PLAY 4 ON 5 FOR GOD'S SAKE!

Can guys make their points on this topic without going completely to the extreme of each point? Jesus. It's not absurd for Laker fans to want to build through the draft with a combination of good FA signings sprinkled in. But stop acting like trading for Cousins will somehow completely hinder you from replacing Julius Randle and Jordan ****ing Clarkson. You can get solid point guard play out of literally every free agent class every year. You can easily find and replace Julius Randle for somewhere between 8-10 million a year.

It's not absurd for a guy to think if you can get a top 3 player at their position for relative peanuts you should do it. But stop acting like the Lakers are going to curl up into a ball and implode if they stand pat with what they have. You could not make a move, take Okafor or Towns or whichever, watch Kobe retire next year or in two years (whenever) take that cap space and make a run at Durant or Davis and have a front line to be reckoned with. Hell you could even take a shot at a Bradley Beal or someone. It's not D-day if they don't make the move though.

                  Re: 2015 Offseason Thread

As far as pgs who are we supposed to get? The fa market is unusually dry right now on good fa pgs, and trading randle and clarkson and our pick will leave us with nothing to offer in a trade, for a pg. Were against getting cousins because if we get him that means we gotta gamble in free agency, and we could very well lose. What if we face worse case scenario, and pick up one decent player(like carroll or harris) but no one else? Now we got a team of cousins, a slightly above average role player, and d leaguers cuz we struck out in fa cuz no one wants to play here. With keeping randle clarkson and our pick, we'll have 3 players with allstar/borderline allstar potential. I want boogie real bad, but we take a bigger gamble if we trade for him, than just keeping what we have.

basically its get boogie and pray to god and hope we get good fa's, or keep what we got, 3 players with high ceiling. Btw none of us think clarkson is irriplaceable. But hes shown he could be a good pg(i think hes capable of at least 15 and 6 by year 3 maybe 21 and 7 in his prime, tho 18 and 6 is more realistic) and right now our only alternative is rondo. So yea i really rather just keep clarkson.

King, I'm not even sure who your rant is directed at unless you were quoting my post just as a reference point.

I will say one thing regarding this:

If guys aren't going to go there, why would they all of a sudden WANT to go to LA(outside of wanting to get paid)now when they weren't a year ago?

They can get Okafor and build around him and clarkson and Randle and get more guys in the future. If you get cousins to keep him after the three years you've gotta be competitive and if you get cousins and give away Randle clarkson and the pic that's all you have is cousins and a post injuries kobe to build around. Some laker fans are looking at the longer road post kobe and want more talent out of more guys as a collective group rather than just building solely around one dude.
As stated by others, getting Cousins gets you a PROVEN player and they STILL have cap space to sign other plays this offseason. Then with the cap increase and Kobe coming off the books, they'll have even more money. If they get Cousins and sign say Aldridge or Love or someone, their future can be very bright. Cousins and Aldridge a long with a healthy Kobe would make them competitive for the 8th seed this year, which is a start. I understand Okafor has potential as does Randle, but Cousins is proven and is STILL only 24 years old. Like I said, Kobe is exactly what he needs. Do you think Kobe would let him get away with the **** he did in Sacramento? Absolutely not.

Relationship between Kings owner Vivek Ranadive and George Karl deeply strained right now, per sources. Some tense moments last few days.

Ranadive's issue is that Karl offered no objection to a long term relationship with DMC when hired. Now, convinced Karl never wanted him.

I really think Cousins would be a star for LA. But they might have to give up too much. Plus Julius randle has looked beastly in summer workouts. Maybe draft D'angelo russell, try to sign marc gasol or sign a solid big man. And save cap for 2016 and build on the core.
