And since we are drawing conclusions from the result of this PRESEASON game, why does no one mention that Divac, Grant, Butler, Walton and George were not even dressed?!

Ok...you are comparing situations not success. Well you are right possibly in that regard as each players surrounding teammates aren't as talented as the star, but the mentality of Kobe compared to MJ is the major difference imo.
EA and 2k have the unfortunate task of trying to balance on a tightrope of fun and sim while trying not to fall 10,000 feet to their death. Instead of a safety net waiting down below there will just be angry customers quick to move out of the way and talk of their failure.

actually i dont see how the mind sets are different

thing is, we know kobe the person...we dont know jordan the person...so seeing that kobe tends to be a jackass, folks tone him down a notch...he is not jordan, but the intensity level, like mike is there, the will to win is there...he is not jordan...but he tries hard to be like him

myself, i have no problem with someone emulating the best...

Wow, Jordan0386 is back and already taken on the masses.

Anyway, I'm not even going to get into the whole Bulls and Lakers 72-10 stuff ( at least I'll try not to ).

What I don't understand is after ONE preseason game, people are already assuming that Kobe will "fail."

Kobe plays 41 minutes, so now he has a huge ego for playing so many minutes in a preseason game. Could it possibly be Rudy T's decision to play Kobe that many minutes? Could it be that since Kareem Rush, Caron Butler, Luke Walton, and Deavon George were not able to play so Kobe had to play the 2 guard position? If you look at it, who else would have played? A backcourt of Tierre Brown and Tony Bobbit (both point guards)? Or maybe it was because of the fact that the Lakers have a whole new team with 9 new players and Kobe needs to get used to his new team. You can't get used to them while sitting on the bench. He could have played those minutes to get used to his new team. Lamar Odom played 40 mintues, omg he has a huge ego! They play to get used to each other. This is the new 1-2 punch, so they need as much court time as they can get.

Yes, I'm sure Kobe purposely looked down the Celtics roster and picked out the guy that would take the least shots, that way he can shoot more. I'm positive that's how it went down (sarcasm). Wait . . . maybe they got Mihm to play defense and not offense . . . he did get 6 blocks.

People are already assuming every game is going to be like this. How can you say for a fact that Kobe WON'T suceed and WON't make his team mates better?
