[QUOTE=KDRE]I enjoyed your post FSU however

How is it he'll be the most dominant? He has peers he has never dominated. I'd say KG and Tmac are more physically gifted than Kobe. There has only been one player shorter than 7ft tall that has dominated the NBA and that was MJ.[QUOTE]

Larry Bird, Magic Johnson, David Thompson, George Gervin, even Bob McAdoo was pretty dominant at 6'9
As Shaquille O'Neal left the Suns practice court, he yelled out, "Alvin's the coach. We must be the Clippers. And I must be Olowokandi. Nooooo!"

Kobe only cares about winning if it's him winning it. This summer should have shown you things in great detail. No matter if he has the most dominant guy there taking pressure off of him and winning rings, he still wants it to be him. Even to take it as far as leaving if he has to continue to play with him. No way in the world MJ would have not used that to his advantage in his hey day if he had the opportunity

You have to remember MJ was a selfish player until he got older, plus you cant answer a question like that, "he would of did this, he would of did that" ...flat out you dont know because it never was a reality for Michael to be second fiddle ...

Kobe wants to be the best, by anyway possible, you cant fault his desire and ambition, you can question his methods but not his motive for doing it ...

yes Tmac and KG maybe "more" physically gifted, but I dont think they can match his competitive drive, KG is close but Kobe is Jordanlike in that aspect ... his workethic in incredible too, I feel if not for the "charges" last year due to his bad judgement, he would of been a better player last year, with so many distractions and what not, yes it was self inflicted but some of those situations he performed in was crazy, his clutch factor has gone through the roof IMO ...

I expect him to hit the wieghts again, never bought that BS excuse that he got slower so he wanted to drop wieght, he was stressed and had everything on his mind and the last thing on it was a "gym" ...

Kobe has everyones attention now, in a basketball manner, he has the stage, its a challenge Im sure he'll meet head on, and if he continues his work ethic, and with the distractions gone watch out ...

EDIT : I was just thinking about his rationale, and I would of done close to the same thing, if he continued on with Shaq for the rest of his career, he would always be in the shadow of the Shaq ...

by him wanting his own team, wanting to be the go to guy, what is so wrong with that, he's already won 3 rings he wants to test his talent, sometimes its not always about the team, I know its hard for some to swallow, but he wants to test his ability see how far he can lead a team, he's being villified for that, I totally understand what he wants and is trying to do ...

If I had his type of talent I would want the same, some guys dont want to be the robin ot a sidekick, they want to be superman, while some dont have the talent to do it he obviously does ...

If thats a 100% valid statement then why was he crying when they lost to the spurs 2 years back, if only cared about him and not the team, he would of been happy to lose so they would switch things up right !?

that to me showed a passion for the game, some would call him a "punk" but I gave him respect for that, showin gthe love he has for winning team or not ...

in all fairness, if kobe plays 40 minutes, gets 35, the lakers should win...if you gonna go all out, you might as well get the w

since i cant find any box scores, lets say L.O had 15 points, then we add that to the final total...the lakers win that game

so, my logic isnt all that flawed...but i used an example clearly in my favor, lol

I don't agree with Tmac being more physically gifted than Kobe simply because he has a fragile body. If his back problems persist he could be in for some major hurting later in his career. As for K.G., I can see that argument but you can flip flop him and Kobe and you would not be in bad shape with either of them.

As for his selfishness, that is without a doubt his major flaw and that is why I stated that this year will be a great barometer in seeing how he handles this team. No one knows right now how he will co-exist with his teammates but, it appears he is putting in extra effort to make the feel welcome and included. His number of shots will not indicate whether or not he is being selfish it will be his shot selection.

Now, as for him being the most dominant? Down the road I can see that in his future. You do not have to be a big man to dominate the league. I see his ascension to that post due to the state of the league moreso than his talent. He has the talent to be one of the best players ever and the watered-down talent pool of the NBA will only accelerate that. No one has the fire in their belly to win like Kobe other than K.G. TMac is soft physically and mentally and he is not a player that can take a physical pounding. Kobe has dedicated himself to getting stronger and bigger while TMac still has the thin frame. In the end I think Kobe's combination of competiveness and strength will win out and he will be the player the mostly emulates MJ.

First of all a lot of player didn't play, and kobe took 21 shots, but he made 13. If a player is shooting better than 50% then it isn't too bad. Who else do you want to take the shots? Odom who was shooting 2 for 10.

Second, Kobe can't be as good as MJ. One major reason is because his hands aren't as big. Whoever found that out is a genious. He just can't do as much with the ball while in the air (though its still plenty).

Third lets leave the talk for whos better till after this year at least

Fourth T-MAC has had some decent players before. Last year he had horrible players and his team couldn't even get 20 wins. Also the East is not nearly as hard as the west (especially when the magic made the playoffs)

Fifth Can we just start the season already
Just wait till Arsenal moves into Emirates Stadium.
