If you can't see the difference based on my previous posts in this thread outlining them or based on watching Kobe's performance in the Finals you can't see it and that's your choice.

He is probably the closest to MJ in the league based on his willingness to want to win. The big difference is Kobe seems to want to shoulder the responsibilty alone trusting no one on his team or lacks the ability to defer to others when the moment calls for it. This is the main difference and imo it is the main factor between a great player gettin no rings/rings on a team lacking no other superstars/all-stars.

I thought Charles Barkley would have a ring in 1993 if he defered to KJ more who was killing the Bulls guards at will. Instead, Chuck wanted to do everything waiving KJ off and bringing the ball up the court like a PG hogging the rock.

Ofcourse there's a level of selfishness that goes along with being a superstar in the NBA. There is also a team aspect as well that goes into being successful. Three egos busted up the Laker dynasty(Phil,Shaq,Kobe) not just one. Out of those 3, only two were on the court playing and only one showed that he was not willing to defer his talents for the team's ultimate success when the moment called for it.

If Kobe develops the "trust your teammates" mentality this year on top of the new rule changes on D in the NBA, Kobe could certainly bring it.

Kobe's athletic abilities aren't even debateable imo as they are vast.

EA and 2k have the unfortunate task of trying to balance on a tightrope of fun and sim while trying not to fall 10,000 feet to their death. Instead of a safety net waiting down below there will just be angry customers quick to move out of the way and talk of their failure.

Jordan is back, and now we're all talking Kobe again Can't we all just give it up, and stop trying to tell Jordan that Kobe is no where close to MJ, and the Bulls may never be touched as far as a dynasty goes?

I give up. It's time for the rest of you to do the same.

Re: Kobe Bryant poured in 35 points, but it wasn't enough...

I think Kobe is cut from the same cloth of Jordan. Growing up in Chicago and being able to watch the greatest player of all-time was a treat I will never forget. More than that, MJ was, and still is, the epitome of what a player should play like. He practiced more than anybody and made adjustments better than anyone. When the Pistons beat up on MJ for all of those years he decided to hit the gym and get stronger. When he needed to get the most out of his teammates he challeneged THEM. He made Pippen into the player he was throughout his career and was doberman-like on defense.

Now onto Kobe. He has all of the physical attributes to be a complete player just like MJ but he lacks one thing MJ hadand that is humility. MJ knew what it was like to be humbled as the oft told story of him being cut from his high school team can attest to. That lit a fire in him that never died out. Kobe has been exalted ever since high school and has never been in a situation where he was told he was not good enough. He has the competitive spirit just like Jordan did but is it a spirit geared to take not only himself but his cohorts with him. Jordan played on sh*tty teams for years before he got Pip, Ho Grant, John Paxson, Bill cartwright, Kukoc and the other guys. Kobe jumped onto a ready made team the was bound for greatness. I think this year will be a telling year for Kobe in how he handles disappointment. Because this team is going to struggle and might not make the playoffs.

In the end I think Kobe will be the most dominant player in the league once Shaq goes off to greener pastureS. I think he is without a doubt the most physically gifted, best all-around player in the league now with K.G. a close second.

How is it he'll be the most dominant? He has peers he has never dominated. I'd say KG and Tmac are more physically gifted than Kobe. There has only been one player shorter than 7ft tall that has dominated the NBA and that was MJ.

Kobe only cares about winning if it's him winning it. This summer should have shown you things in great detail. No matter if he has the most dominant guy there taking pressure off of him and winning rings, he still wants it to be him. Even to take it as far as leaving if he has to continue to play with him. No way in the world MJ would have not used that to his advantage in his hey day if he had the opportunity.

I cosign EVERYTHING FSU just posted.

And Jordan, we all get what you're saying. But to make that comparison is aweful bold, that's all I'M saying. You say Kobe can run with Odom and take his team to the playoffs just like a dominant shooting guard once did with Scottie Pippen. But like my man said, Pip and Jordans squad is arguably the greatest team in history and they did alot more than "take their team to the playoffs". I think its an unreasonable comparison because it seems as if you just want to put Kobe and Jordan on the same plateau but your argument is fallable.

Tracy McGrady took a team of scrubs to the playoffs on many occasions. Noone compares him to Jordan.

Sam Cassell made the All-Star team. Noone compares him to Jordan.

Carmello Anthony made the olympic team. Noone compares him to Jordan.

Spudd Webb won the Slam Dunk Contest. Noone compares him to Jordan

Chauncy Billups won playoff MVP. Noone compares him to Jordan.

These are all accomplishments of MJ's, yet noone is comparing them to MJ, let alone their teams to the CHI-town dynasty. Yes Kobe will probably take his team to the playoffs, but does that really warrant the MJ comparison? Really? I think it's more deserving of a TMac comparison. I admit I see where you're coming from, but I think it's time you see where EVERYONE else is coming from.
