Yes Scottie wanted to see what he could do on his own, thats what the blazers were about, and we see how well he did too! I'm talkin about how it was gone about. Scottie didnt break up the dynasty so he could be "the man".

        P.S.

Kobe and Odom do not equal MJ and PIP...repeat Kobe and Odom do not equal MJ and PIP...it's an insult to a team that broke records for the most wins in a season. A team that some consider the greatest of all time.

Kobe played 41 minutes in a preseason game, played like it was game seven, had a bunch of points, and the Lakers still couldnt beat the preseason Sonics. And you wanna compare these guys to a team that only lost 10 games all season? And you're seriously wondering why people aren't feeling you?

who cares who isnt feeling me at the moment...im feeling fine

you are looking at it from your end of the spectrum and you refuse to give my opinion a thought(which you dont have to, btw)

a lot of folks are looking at kobe's situation and are saying he pimped himself, he cant succeed

i say look at what mike and pip did...kobe and odom obviously wont be them...but they can carry their squad to the playoffs like the bulls did...

dont get it twisted, the bulls were not this all world of a talented team for all 6 wins...only 98 was true dominance...

if kobe plays the right way, with the help of lamar, they will make the playoffs

kobe is all world, lamar is capable of playing four positions...gimme a break fellas...its the end of the world to compare situations

                yeah, this debate is over.

The Bulls were not "truely dominant" only one year, they just broke that record one year. And yes, Kobe will carry LA to the playoffs, just like Tmac, AI, PP, VC and other shooting guards have done, it isnt a miracle.

You see Kobe and Odom as MJ and Pip. You see this years Lakers as the dynasty Bulls...cool. We are just gonna have to agree to disagree, but I'm done arguing the point.

Kobe can get this team to the playoffs imo. You must realize jordan that those Bulls teams didn't just "go to the playoffs", they won championships. Saying that he can get the Lakeshow to the playoffs is not farfetched at all. Saying that this team is similar to the Jordanaires of the 90's is a little rediculous though imo.

The big difference imo between Jordan and Kobe is a willigness to defer to whoever is most effective at the moment in order to achieve victory. Jordan feeding Paxson in the 91 finals, hitting Kerr for the game winner in the 98' finals.

Take Kobe's performance in last year's finals. Shaq was torching the Pistons in Detroit, just killing them. Instead of going to the more effective scoring option at the time Kobe jacks up bad shots, dribbles too much, and hardly ever gets the ball inside to the big fella. Luke Walton sure didn't have a problem getting the ball to Shaq. As the series went on Kobe distanced himself further and further from his teammates and totally disregarded the team concept. It was painfully obvious as I watched each game.

If he's willing to do the things MJ was willing to do than Kobe can be successful. Seeing him unwilling to give the ball to one of the most dominate players in the game who was in a zone sure doesn't bode well for that being a possibility. Hopefully this year Kobe can make that transition.
EA and 2k have the unfortunate task of trying to balance on a tightrope of fun and sim while trying not to fall 10,000 feet to their death. Instead of a safety net waiting down below there will just be angry customers quick to move out of the way and talk of their failure.
