Last year, I could understand where people were coming from. I didn't agree with the assessment on Durant or the league's health, but I could see where people came from and why they felt this way.

This year? No. Hopefully this will help the parity in the East (though I have my doubts) and it isn't like Hayward is jumping a plane down to the beach to play with his friends or even a serious Finals contender. I understand "its Boston," but I see it as a lateral move for the most part.

But in the end the players are people. You cannot predict what they're gonna do and why. One guy leaves for money another leaves because he likes the new city better.

Maybe Utah could have pushed Hayward into the spotlight further (or earlier). If he got that All-NBA selection he probably would have been a lock to stay, but even then who's to say he still wouldn't want to team up with his old coach.

I really think that Hayward to Boston is gonna end up being a bad move. Doesn't put you over Cleveland, and now y'all got way too many SF. Plus y'all gonna have to max IT, and pay Bradley big money?

Bitching about getting rid of FA is something I'll never understand.

MFers are with teams for 8 years(Rookie deal plus extension they sign after their rookie deal expires)and then when they leave to join another team, then idiots act like it's the worst ****ing thing in the world.

NBA is the only sport where they want dudes to take less and not go anywhere. And then when these guys don't win, some of y'all are like "He should've left when he had the chance". Y'all kill me with that foolishness, lol.

The funny thing is the last 2 CBAs have made it advantageous for "Small Market" teams to have a bigger advantage in retaining their guys that they drafted. I mean what more needs to be done? Serious question because they've already made it to where guys are going to be taking a significant financial hit(can sacrifice up to $35-40 Mil) if they leave so what else do you want done? Put a limit on the # of FAs these "Big Market" teams can sign?

And it's not like Boston bought their guys. Outside of Horford, they drafted(with help from us of course)and developed most of their guys and gradually got better each year.

I think it makes the team better. No question about it. The " it doesn't put you over CLE" stuff is tiring. Using that logic no moves should be made and CLE is getting blown up soon anyways. We all know it.

          Yes they might max IT.

          Yes they could pay Bradley.

No you can't really have too many wingmen in today's NBA. If it's a problem it will work itself out.

I get that, but I'd say Boston was on the way up regardless. Utah needed Hayward much more than Boston needed him. They're pretty much stuck now as another middling team. No star player is going to do them any favors and sign there... they're stuck hoping for a draft pick or one of their young guys to pan out before Gobert is 30 years old. And then whoever that player is is going to leave on them too lol.. rinse and repeat.

Either way it's not really that it's Boston. It's just the fact that he left and here we are again with another small market team left hanging.

So much woe is me/my team and whining. God forbid a player makes a choice that's best for them.

Not to mention its freaking Gordon Hayward; not LBJ or Durant leaving.

I'm really surprised the Jazz didn't push sooner to have a meeting with Otto Porter because to me that would feel like an ideal situation for him to be The One.

**** happens no matter the market, but I don't think this is a "big market vs. small market" debate.

And these small market teams are doing wonderful. We just had Cleveland and Golden State in the Finals again. What more does the league have to do to squash this "small market woe" crap?

Pack, we gotta get together a coalition of all the teams in big markets that suck and complain to the league that they aren't doing enough to guarantee our supreme status. Let the small market fans tell it, we're running them out of the league.

I'm still here and far from a newbie. Yes the NBA is popular now but I don't think it will continue. I think the more these super teams are built the more people will be turned off. Especially if your a fan of a small market team that keeps losing players that they drafted to other teams for less money. I guess I would be ok if FA was allowed as long as it didn't result in superstars going to play with other superstars.

That "small market" has to be the biggest thing played out in sports. Name top free agents that signed with the Mavs, Lakers, Clippers, Nets, Knicks, Wizards, Bulls, Detroit, 76ers in the last 7 years. I'll gladly sit here & wait.

What your describing isn't Free Agency at all.

We like capitalism in all things but our sports? Is that it?

I just don't like that in the NBA you can already tell who the top 2-4 teams are. And I don't like that teams lose their stars

I mean just because their with the team for 8 years doesn't really mean much. Not like they're contenders all those 8 years. It's not until like year 5 that they're playing near their prime level usually anyway.

As for changes, I'd go the NFL route. Put a hard cap in place, franchise tags, etc.

And caveman - Name me the best FA Indy, Utah, Milwaukee, etc has signed like ever?
