If the Lakers were to land Kawhi and PG or LeBron or whoever, and had a chance of making noise in the playoffs, what are the odds of Randle just accepting his qualifying offer? Spend one more year on a cheap deal (like 12 mil) and then just get a big pay day after next season since they have full bird rights, or if he decides to leave.

The qualifying offer would only be $5.5 million for Randle and I'm guessing the Lakers will ultimately need to get rid of his cap hit in order to fit two other max guys in (assuming the Lakers want Kawhi plus two other max guys).

How does all of that work with them having his bird rights, would have Kawhi's bird rights also. Can they still sign guys since retaining Randle and assuming Kawhi's money would allow them to go over? I'm not familiar with the how, if, and whens of this stuff. Seems like every off-season something new happens that I didn't even know was possible lol

Or..... Use that in their Lebron negotiations. Lebron can pick his own gm.

I'm all in for Khawi as long as we don't send out any future draft picks and get to keep one or two out of the three (Ingram, Kuz, Ball).

Big fat NO for Bron *non basketball reasons

A hypothetical defensive lineup of Khawi, George and Bron though sounds great and if we were able to keep Ingram stick him at PG a man can dream [emoji41]

With Randle's bird rights, the Lakers can go over the cap to sign him, but he still counts against their salary cap as $12 million until he signs a new deal, which hurts their chances of being able to sign other guys like LeBron/PG13. I'm guessing they'll have to renounce his cap hold and let him walk unrestricted in order to make 3 max guys work but I haven't done the exact math on that yet.

What's the key to creating a new superteam in L.A.? Kevin Pelton explains how the team and the superstars might get it done.

Good read on the lakers and how they get all 3 guys to work

Pop has a rule against trading players to teams in the West and I think the deal would have to be extra sweet in order for him to deal him within the conference.... and especially to the Lakers. Obviously, he's going to do what is best for the Spurs but I just can't see him helping the Lakers build a super team.

We were just talking about this at work, but it would seem like if they sat down and talked already, and now it's coming out that he wants to be in LA, that maybe their discussion was that Pop would do him a solid. We've saw it happen plenty of times over the years, just never with Pop lol.

We just spent the last 20 years asking the Knicks to stop doing these things. To actually rebuild. And now Leonard is available and we think surrendering more youth to acquire him would suddenly make the Knicks good again?

Can anyone name the last time a team in the Knicks position acquired a star player and saw immediate success?

Not to mention KP will likely miss the entire season. We're very close to being a great spot.

                              1) Got KP
                              2) Got Frank (eff the haters)
                              3) Add a solid rotation piece next week (either Bridges kid or Knox)
                              4) Suck next year without KP and get a high draft pick

If we trade for Kawhi we're still going to suck next year and he could potentially walk in 2020.

I think it's too risky to go for all 3. You'll have to gut the entire team and be left with Josh Hart and a bunch of minimum contract players. If one of the big three goes down, you're ****ed.
