    Re: 2018 Off-Season Thread

    - Woj stated a while back that the Spurs have no interest in Lonzo Ball.
    - Lakers beat writers are saying that Ingram hasn't been included in any offers yet.
    - Boston beat writers are saying that he Celtics haven't offered Brown yet.
    - SI reporter is saying that Philly has yet to include Fultz in any offer.

Teams are low-balling San Antonio. They don't have any leverage. However, they also don't have to be in a rush and can hold out to a deal they're comfortable with. I doubt that Pop really has much interest in draft picks or projects. I still say that Pop will be hell bent on not helping the Lakers build a super team but if the other offers don't get any better and the Lakers offer Ingram, Kuz and Randle (S&T) that may be enough to get it done. With that said the Lakers could get in a standoff with the Spurs knowing that they could get Leonard for free next year (although, it would be tough unless they kept one of their max slots available).

There's still a lot that can happen but at this point I'm hoping that the Celtics just run it back. Even if the Spurs gives the Celtics permission to talk to Kawhi I don't trust him enough to give up anything that the other two teams can't easily beat. There's just too much risk involved in a player that may be a head-case who could sit out the whole year if he (or his uncle) isn't happy.

If the Spurs don't make a move though won't his value just continue to decline? That's just less and less possible rental time, and if they wait until the other pieces have signed the Lakers would just wait out the year. Maybe nothing happens right now, but they can't afford to wait until after training camp or into the season IMO.

Ingram, Kuz, AND Randle would be a horrid trade for the Lakers. 3 starters, all 20ppg capable guys for Kawhi??? If that means they end up with LeBron and PG as well then yeah MAYBE it would be worth it, but I wouldn't even consider trading away my entire future and 3 starters for Kawhi Leonard. I wouldn't trade that for LeBron or KD.

Memphis just needs to give them Jackson, Parson's contract, and next years first rounder. Still try and sign Avery Bradley as well.

Conley, AB, Kawhi, Green, Gasol, 6th man Brooks.

Kawhi would hate Memphis lol but I'm cool with the rental and didn't want Jackson anyways.

I love how people are just s***ing on our players.

Some of these trade scenarios being brought up for Kawhi are disrespectful as hell. Lol

I think he Lakers best bet is to decide if keeping Randle and getting those guys is feasible. I think he's a great fit, but money wise. If it's not a sign and trade with him should be their primary move. Maybe Ingram gets into that mix somehow, but no way am I trading Kuzma with Randle or Kuzma with Ingram, much less all 3 of them.

Just wait it out until one of the other teams blink. They could continue to try and reconcile with Kawhi as well. I think it's doubtful that he comes around but you just never know. I'd try that and dangling the super-max carrot over his head before letting him go for peanuts.

I think that that Lakers goal is LeBron, PG and Kawhi. If so, that means either trading or renouncing Randle. They'll have to find someone to take Deng and that's going to mean on of their young guys or multiple 1st attached to him. If that Big 3 happens I will be surprised if the 18/19 Lakers have more than one of Ball, Ingram, Kuz, and Randle on their roster.

Reply's above in red... with all that said I was wrong last year about the return for PG and Butler, and will gladly eat crow again if the Spurs end up with something like one the Lakers young guys, Deng and a future 1st or something similar to that.

I am not trashing the Lakers assets. I really would not want to give up Ingram especially considering he will only be 21 this year going into his 3rd season and has shown growth despite the injury last year. Im not your front office but I would honestly be hard pressed to give up both Ingram and Kuzma (who I'm isn't the end all be all) but to me giving up so many assets for just one player is never a good thing. I always think back to how the Knicks gutted their roster and asset pool to get Carmelo instead of just waiting until the off season. I know fans live in this I need it now mindset, but IMO waiting until Kawhi is a free agent would literally be the smartest option IMO.

The harsh reality of having your team involved in trade talks. No one quite values your young assets to the degree you do.

Let's assume that LeBron would only go to L.A. if Kawhi is there too. Would you trade Ingram and Kuz (or whatever else for matching salaries) for Kawhi if it meant LeBron, as well? I would.

I know that waiting it out for a year is an option but you know the old saying "a bird in the hand is worth two in the bush". A lot can happen in a year.

I'm not really sure why people keep saying that the Spurs don't have leverage and acting like they HAVE to trade Kawhi right now, they have the leverage to take this into the season all the way to the trade deadline if they want to.
