Re: 2018-19 Transaction Thread
Lonzo, Kuz, Ingram all 3 in a package would be off the table for me. Unless something changes within the next few days.

Re: 2018-19 Transaction Thread
AD on his trade request: "It's my time. I feel like I gave this city all I could."
If a dude says this when his contract expires and he's about to leave, we're cool. I don't know how I would feel about a dude saying this a week before the deadline with a year and a half left on his deal. Makes it sound like he needs to retire.Originally posted by G PericoIf I ain't got it, then I gotta take it

Re: 2018-19 Transaction Thread
You keep bringing up "$50M in 2020" but I think you should take a look at the potential 2020 FA class before resting all of your hopes in it. If AD isn't interested in signing with the Celtics (who have more pieces), why the hell would he sign with the Mavs?
Everything is about this year's FA. And unless the top tier guys just sign 1+1 deals (which they have absolutely no incentive to do), 2020 might be the worst FA class in recent memory.
I think the Mavs screwed themselves now and long-term.
If you're a lottery team (which they currently are) with no draft picks and no cap space to sign at least one max then you're doing it wrong.
A healthy KP + Luka simply isn't enough in the West especially when you can't add a decent draft pick into the mix. Guys aren't talking about joining up to play in Dallas even with those 2, sorry.
The Knicks took a ridiculous gamble and it all depends on where they fall in the draft lottery but at least them have some flexibility.
The Mavs are hoping for KP to be 100% healthy and signing long-term. Both of those right now are unknown.Comment

Ehh if the Mavs former trade rumors for Smith are legit they didn’t screw themselves at all. They’ll either get to keep Porzingis or they won’t, but they’ll have cap space with Mark+Rick+Luka always being in play for free agents. The other DSJ rumors weren’t remotely close to a Porzingis level return, and they added a nearly 13 mil trade exception from this as well.

I thought Melo had already been released, lol. Have the Lakers even opened up a roster spot yet?Comment

Even if they don’t hit big in free agency in 2020 there is nothing preventing them from holding on to their cap space for 2021. The other possibility is using the cap space in trades again. They could easily take on bad contracts if a star player is attached. They just did it yesterday so what would prevent them from pulling that off again in 2020? That is by the way how they built their championship team in 2011. Some of those bad contracts also turn out to be good fits (see Jerry Stackhouse), that’s what happen when they got to the Finals in ‘06.
And to say that no one is going to want to come to Dallas to play with Luka and KP is very premature. Once KP gets back on the floor other player will see the potential and will likely want to join them. Especially with a player like Luka because they know he’s capable of taking the defensive pressure off of them and he will get them the ball.
What Knicks fan should be worried about is if the can actually lure in a star player or two. There is a better chance that Kyrie goes to LAL to play with Labron and AD (once he’s traded there) than there is that he goes to the Knicks. Kawhi is more than likely headed to the Clippers and if that happens why would KD want to go to the Knicks by himself? It’s already known that the losing culture the Knicks have establish is horrible and they change direction every couple of years. KD isn’t going to want any part of that.Comment

Re: 2018-19 Transaction Thread
If Davis trade happens though I'm assuming with KCP not being a piece in the rumors that Lance/Beas would be the player to match the numbers and they would then have roster spots.
I wouldn't want Melo, but him replacing Beas role or something similar wouldn't be a bad move for them.Comment
