It's foolish for you to say it looks like Kobe won't be taking his team anywhere near the finals. We're not even half way through the season yet.
Besides how many rings does Shaq have without Kobe? 0
I didn't say the West wasn't a harder conference, I said that everyone always uses the same excuses when talking about how good Iverson has it in the Eastern conference. The West is so tough because it seems like every elite team has a superstar and a great supporting cast. The problems in the East is that there are too many team with great players but no good supporting cast. It's not foolish to say Kobe's not taking his team to the Finals, they can't consistently beat the Western powerhouses with their team right now. They're a young team and they are years away from championship aspirations. By the way, the question isn't how many rings does Shaq have without Kobe, it's how many rings does Kobe have without Shaq. With the right supporting cast, Shaq can take his team directly to the Finals. Look what Shaq has done with Wade, now people are asking the question of whether they will win the championship. Are they saying that about Kobe? No. Why you ask? Because Kobe isn't the most dominant player in the NBA that's why.

Skill-wise, AI is nearly unmatched...but team ball-wise, he just never got "it".

The year he had Stack, Tim Thomas and Coleman, he shot 46%..which is almost surreal for AI, but the team still only won 30 games, and had severe chemistry problems. Its unfortunate that AI had the type of mentality that demended that the organization put a bunch of disintersted scores around him to be succesful. His loss.

I look for his production to decline enough to eat into his popularity, giving the 6'ers a chance to move him within about 3 seasons. He'll prolly end up like Malone...an over-the hill superstar with a decent ammount of gas left, looking latch on to a contender. I can picture Iverson filling the Harper role with a young contender.

Personally, I'd LOVE to have AI as the Cav's grizzled veteran PG 3 years from now...

Goodness, lol, you act like Iverson is an old man putting up terrible stats. The guy's the leading scorer in the NBA right now and is top five in assists and steals per game. I'm sure anyone would take an "over-the-hill" 28 pts per game scorer on their team. Hell, let's say in three years he starts to wear down. Does that mean he'll average only-GASP-24 pts per game?!!?!? OOHH NOOO!!! On another note, I think people fail to realize he won the MVP award in 2001. I'd say with all his credentials, along with his MVP trophy, that puts him in the elite group in the NBA.

Who did they try to trade him to then? Back in 2000, I could understand why the Sixers were trying to dump Iverson, but now he's a different person. He attended practices, not as outspoken as he was before, and he's willing to help out his teammates. It's not the same anymore.

Actually, where in my post did I say he's an old man putting up terrible stats? I said that he will decline in production enough to be moved (ala Shaq, Malone, GP, and now Vince) and he'll be a productive role player on a good team. I'd love to have 24 ppg from AI 3 years from now. Don't be so sensitive...of course AI is still elite.
