The US tv story is stupid too. If you dont know how to get US stations in Canada, that says alot about you. Literally just get a VPN or a satellite and you get everything you want. And outside of something like espn(which even Americans don't care as much about anymore), what networks do they want? Canada has ABC,nbc, fox, cbs,HBO,netflix etc. And obviously the stuff like league pass too.

If people in 3rd world countries can watch the US networks all fine, surely a millionaire in the biggest canadian city can.

Mad they didn't keep him? He seemed upset when they didn't keep him. I'm sure LA is real nice too, but a guy like that probably misses the Toronto nightlife.

I saw a tweet that said there should be a reformation on tampering rules and such...can't help but agree with that. We all know it happens, just make that **** open season. Like this whole Kemba to Boston thing...according to rules, he can't even talk to the Celtics brass until Sunday, right? So how is he a favorite to land there already? Tampering, right? So **** it, let 'em just tamper as soon as the NBA season ends.

I think we do need to look over the examples, I'm not sure what you consider a big market. Everyone you gave as an example went to one except for PG. Any examples of free agents going to winning, small market teams? Guys being cool with winning in big markets isn't a surprise to me.

Also since we're factoring in happiness, how do we know PG cared about winning or money? What if he was just happy in OKC like Durant was unhappy in GS?

            All sports are like that.

Not related to the tampering stuff, but that if NBA had something similar to the MLB where teams who lose a player of a certain status to FA ends up getting a pick in the "compensatory round" which takes place between rd 1 and 2 of the following years draft?

Nah compensatory drafts work in the NFL cause you gotta put 52 guys on your roster and then you need a practice squad too. As it stands, most 2nd round players barely carve out careers in the NBA, no need for any additional rounds.

What the hell are you talking about?

The man didn't consider Toronto to be his home probably in large part because he was in a completely different country than his friends, family, and 95% of the league.

I've been to Toronto a couple of times; it's a great city but it's not for everyone, just like NYC isn't or any city that has a winter--not to mention that it's in another country.

Some dudes just love warm weather cities and/or living in their native country.

Yeah nevermind all those qualifiers now cause despite all of that for the last 5 years all I've heard is that Golden State wouldn't have won any titles if Kyrie and Love don't get hurt. If Chris Paul and Blake don't get hurt. If Chris Paul doesn't get hurt again. If Kawhi doesn't get hurt. LeBron was by himself with JR making bonehead decisions, etc. etc. Hell even here. Remember how *** **** annoying this forum was for the entirety of the 2015-16 NBA season about the Warriors being a fluke and we were going to see with healthy Love and Kyrie what was up and how they got exposed? Pepperidge Farm remembers.

This is what I'm talking about. I don't even count PG because PG didn't sign to play in OKC per se. Paul forced his way out of Indiana the same way Kawhi forced himself out of SA and so many did before them. If they had their way, they both would have been traded to the Lakers from what we've "heard." Assuming that's true for the sake of discussion, that's two guys who may ultimately sign with the ugly duckling franchises, but they didn't man up and give those teams a shot. They didn't listen to their pitch and then decide to go there. They were forced to go there as a pit stop to where they wanted to be. It's great that PG got along with Russ so much and liked the city so much that he decided to stay there, the fact is that Russ was going to be there whether PG got traded there or not. OKC was still going to be an awesome little city whether PG got traded there or not. Everything that he ultimately liked about the franchise that convinced him to stay wouldn't have mattered a single damn bit had he actually been a free agent cause those places don't even get a seat at the table typically and if they do they never get picked to be where a guy is going to go unless he was drafted or traded there.

It’s just Ric Bucher, but for whatever it’s worth (probably not much), he’s saying Butler is interested in taking a slight discount to play for the Lakers and that Philly is offering Tobias less than the max, opening the door for Denver or Dallas to swoop in for him
