It’s a terrible look for the Hornets. A completely insulting offer that suggests they aren’t actually interested in signing him, in which case not trading him was dumb. It would be one thing if they thought they’d sign him to the regular max all year and then got surprised that he became eligible for the super max but they aren’t even offering him the regular max. It’s a complete joke.

Edit: this all assumes the 5/160 offer is really what the offer is

How are the Clippers even in the running for Kawhi now ? I don't see any reason why he wouldn't just go to the Lakers or stay in Toronto in a 1+1. I cant think of a single reason why he would pick the Clippers because they aren't going to win anything.

I know everyone is saying that Kemba isn't a max player, so what did MJ do? Lowball their offer by like 60M lower than what people are saying he's due?

So Boston is gonna give this guy the max?
Although everyone loves Kemba, a lot of fans understand the hole Cho put the team in. Hornets simply arent paying tax.

It'd just be a tough pill to swallow if the reports are true that they are low balling him...

It's not all that complicated. The idea is that he wants to play in LA and he'd be the #1 guy/have all of the influence with the Clippers. And they have enough talent and cap flexibility that they could pretty quickly catapult themselves into contender status if he goes there.

I don't know if Kawhi is going to LA but to me he becomes the #1 option if he goes to the Lakers.

I know the media will say it's LeBron's team. But LeBron is 35, 36 years old. He wants these guys because he knows he isn't able to take that workload anymore. I mean, he's playing for the very same organization that saw what happened to the last star player that tried to do that for too long.

Kawhi is going to have the ball in his hands the most, I honestly believe that. LeBron will be a facilitator, he will be a deep threat since he can hit that three now and he will turn on that gear when needed, but I don't think this guy wants to play 40 minutes a game burning that oil.

My biggest concern is what happens to Anthony Davis the star player with a team of LeBron an Kawhi. Davis is better than Bosh but there is no scenario where a team has three ball dominant players do ball dominant things. Even the Warriors kept Klay Thompson essentially as a super 3 & D guy since the ball would either be in Durant's or Curry's hands.

Davis will get his touches but all of his touches will be in a very different flow of offense than the one in New Orleans. And Davis isn't at the moment the deep threat Bosh turned into. Though that can change, of course. But if Davis becomes Bosh then it's a waste of Davis's talent.

Maybe Davis doesn't care if it means rings. I just care as a basketball fan to see Davis turned into a third-wheel. Because he is the third-wheel on a team with two star swing men.

Celtics are hiring Kara Lawson as an assistant coach per Woj. She was the color analyst for the Wizards broadcasts for the past two seasons. Coming in for the legendary Phil Chenier she had big shoes to fill, but I thought she did great. I hope her well in Boston and hope she finds personal success.

It's hard to speculate and also hard to imagine, but maybe LeBron giving Davis #23 signifies that if there were 3 of them, LeBron would become the 3rd wheel? Like I said, very hard to imagine since he's always had the ball in his hands...but if he had Kawhi and AD on his team, I imagine he'd have no problem adjusting, especially given how last year went. I think either way if it ends up just being him and AD, I think AD will become option #1.

idk how you determine which wheel a player is, but even as the 3rd scoring option the ball would be in LeBron's hands more because the other two aren't play-makers. Maybe a more Magic-esque LeBron in that scenario, but part of the reason it's difficult to just get 3 guys and not a more well rounded team approach.

Seriously. Kyrie may be an idiot but the smear campaign sure is in full effect up there.
